Chapter 4: The Silence That Screamed
The night felt strangely stil.
The old tree outside Maya's window swayed with the wind, yet it made no sound. Everything was quiet.....to quiet.
Maya sat at the corner of her bed. In front of her lay an open diary, the only place where she wrote the words she could never say out loud. But to night....her pen remained still in her hand.
Something had changed.
She couldn't explain it, but she could feel it.
What happened at school today had made her silence heavier than ever.
When she walked into class that morning, the room went silent.
Then came the whisperes.
"There she is...again."
"She's always alone..."
"Does anyone even talk to he?"
These weren't new. Maya had heard them countless times before. But today felt different.
Because today...she didn't stay silent.
In math class, the teacher asked a question. No one answered.
Then suddenly, Maya raised her hand.
The entire class froze.
"Sir ...I can try."
Her voice trembled, but her eyes held determination.
The teacher, supposed, called her to the board.
Maya stood up slowly, walked forward and began solving the problem.
Step by step ....perfectly.
The classroom fell completely silent.
When she finished, the teacher said,"very good, Maya. Excellent."
It was the first time someone had praised her like that
But...
From the back, someone whispered, "she knows all that? Then why is she always quiet?"
Another voice laughed,
"She just wants attention."
Maya's hand froze.
A heavy weight pressed against her chest.
In that moment, she realized something painful -
No matter what she ...did ...no one would truly understand her.
When she got home, she locked her door.
Her mother called from outside,
"Maya, came eat!"
But she didn't reply.
Inside her, something was building a scream she couldn't let out.
She turned to her diary and began writing.....
"Sometimes silence is not peace...
Sometimes it Isa a prison."
Tears blurred her vision.
She continued...
"I try to speak today.
But the world didn't listen.
Or maybe...they didn't want to."
Suddenly, her phone vibrated.
Unknown number.
Maya hesitate...then answered.
"Hello?"
Silence.
Then a voice -
"You speak today. "
Maya's heart skipped a beat.
"W..who are you?"
"You don't know me. But I know..how long you've been silent."
Her fingers went cold.
"How do you?"
"Because...I was silent too."
The line went dead.
Maya stared at her phone.
For the first time...she feel completely alone.
But fear crept in too.
Who was that?
How did they know?
She looked back at her diary.
Then slowly wrote...
"Maybe....my silence is not empty.
Maybe...someone is listening."
The night grew deeper.
Moonlight spilled softly through the window.
May lay down, but sleep wouldn't come.
That voice echoed in her mind...
"I was silent too..."
Maybe ....it wasn't just a phone call.
Maybe...it was a beginning.
The beginning of something unknown.
But she didn't know...
Where this story would take her.
And her silence....
It was no longer just silence.
It was becoming a battle.
A hidden battle...
One no one sees.
No one hears.
Yet...everyday, it breaks her a little more.
(To be continued....)
