**Chapter 75: Names We Wear Without Knowing**
The blood sky had begun to feel like a secret that everyone was keeping from themselves.

**Redfern Ridge – Rooftop District**
The Oni and the Sphinx were still testing each other when the third presence arrived.
Jayden Lautalo stepped out of a stairwell onto the wide industrial rooftop, hands in his pockets, the arrogance still sitting easily on his shoulders. He had come looking for a fight that felt personal. Instead he found two monsters already mid-motion under the red light — the red-skinned Oni with the iron club and the recovering lion-bodied Sphinx whose human face still belonged to Sally Dogder.
Jayden stopped at the edge of the confrontation and watched.
He did not yet know that the Oni was only one mask.
Deep under his skin, older than the blood sky and older than his Argentine name, something else shifted. El Pombero — the small, dark, forest-born trickster of Guaraní legend, the one who walked between trees and mischief and sudden cruelty — stirred in the same body. Jayden felt only a brief, unnameable pressure behind the eyes, a flicker of forest and cigarette smoke and laughter that did not belong to him. He shook it off as adrenaline.
The Oni turned first. The Sphinx's wings half-spread. Neither attacked him immediately. Both recognised something in the newcomer that did not fully match the teenage arrogance on the surface.
Jayden rolled his shoulders.
"You two look busy," he said. "Need a third?"
The rooftop held its breath. Somewhere under Jayden's ribs, El Pombero smiled without his permission.

**Guardians Archives – Sub-Level**
Van Helsing stood over a table covered in old paper, silver-edged photographs, and bleeding-edge satellite stills. His younger brother Henrik Helsing — leaner, quieter, eyes the same cold hunter's grey — moved between data screens with the focus of someone who had been born into the family business of ending things that should not exist.
"The Beast is not a transformation," Van Helsing said. "R. Dogder was right about that much. It is a concept wearing a body. Every recorded appearance since the 1760s lines up with spikes in human cruelty, not lunar cycles or bloodlines."
Henrik tapped a sequence of images. "Then the blood sky didn't create it. It only gave the concept a louder stage. If Cain and Abel truly have the End Blade, the Blade may be the only edge that can cut a concept instead of a body."
Van Helsing's jaw flexed. "We find Jarron's current den. We put the hunters who can actually finish it in the same place. And we do not miss."

**The Edge of the Underworld**
Mortalis did not knock.
The entity that specialised in crossings — neither fully Death nor fully Life — stepped into the thin place between the last breath and the first memory and called two names that had been freshly written in the ledgers.
Zayelle's soul rose first, still marked by the death-shape she had worn too hard. Faar No Besa followed, green life energy flickering weakly around a boy who had been meant to balance her and had been erased for the effort.
Mortalis regarded them both with the calm of someone who had performed this service for stranger pairs.
"You are needed above," it said. "The board is incomplete without the messenger and the harbinger. I am bringing the pieces back. Try not to die again immediately."
Light that was not light wrapped the two souls. Somewhere far above, the blood sky flickered as if something had been added back into the equation without its permission.

**Beast's Hiding Spot – Flooded Industrial Sub-Level**
Dracula (the White Vampire) moved through the standing water without a sound. Ri Kwon Jae and Lupin followed at a measured distance, senses stretched. The residual signature of the living concept of evil was strongest here — old blood, older malice, and the faint scent of wet fur that had never belonged to any natural wolf.
They were not the first to arrive.
Carlton — Cryogenesis — stood at the edge of a wide, partially collapsed chamber, frost creeping outward from his shoes in delicate, lethal patterns. Beside him floated Amadou, better known in older files as Meteor Boy, residual cosmic heat still shimmering around his dark skin and short-cropped hair. Both had been tracking the same den from different angles.
Dracula stopped. The temperature in the chamber dropped another three degrees.
Carlton spoke first, voice flat. "We're investigating. Not fighting. Yet."
Amadou's eyes glowed faintly with re-entry light. "The Beast was here less than an hour ago. It left in a hurry. Something about the sky changed and it felt it."
Lupin's stance shifted. Ri Kwon Jae's hand rested near his weapon. The White Vampire's crimson eyes moved between the ice user and the boy who fell like a star, measuring, calculating.
For a moment the flooded chamber held five different kinds of power and no clear hierarchy.
Then Dracula smiled, small and sharp.
"Then we are all late. The concept is already moving again."

**Wider Board**
Across the city the rest of the pieces continued their own motions.
Cain and Abel walked the upper corridors of Headquarters with the End Blade still quiet at Cain's side, the weapon's finality drawing glances from everyone who passed. Lucifer and Michael watched them go without comment. Lucifer Jr. and Koa stood near the command table while Nathan and Sasha refined the new legion's first deployment patterns.
Kevin sat in medical with the Matrix still unnaturally quiet under his skin. Wyatt refused to leave the chair beside him. Both of them kept replaying the rail yard — Zayelle and Faar No Besa falling, Bandile telling them to run, the name Jarron landing like a new law.
Bandile Hardere moved alone through the outer industrial grid, telekinetic pressure rolling ahead of him, hunting the same concept the others were hunting. He had not forgotten the car he had been thrown through. He intended to return the favour with interest.
Korg and Erik Stormjuger waited for Grug's return. The Revenant was still reading the deep signatures of the seed planter and the womb laboratory, following a trail that felt older than the blood sky itself.
Jordan Pitas and Rodriguez Hernandez crossed another empty district, metal and invisibility sweeping for any fresh trace of the Beast. Benjamin Fabisch remained on the school steps, silent, carrying the weight of a telepathic warning that had already come true in the most brutal way.
And on a wide rooftop under the same red light, Jayden Lautalo — who did not yet know he was also El Pombero — watched an Oni and a Sphinx circle each other and decided the night was still young enough for one more bad decision.

**Final Image**
Mortalis rose toward the living world with two recovered souls in its care.
The Helsing brothers closed another old book and opened a live satellite feed.
Dracula, Ri Kwon Jae, Lupin, Carlton, and Amadou stood in ankle-deep water and listened to the distant sound of a concept that had started moving again.
And somewhere above the blood sky, the pressure of God's presence and the wandering attention of The Empty shifted at the same moment, as if both had felt the End Blade's quiet existence more clearly than before.
The board was still in motion.
The names were still multiplying.
And the ending, patient and red, continued to write itself.
**End of Chapter 75**
