Chapter 9 - II. QUICK DAGGERS

I wash my hands and my face tiredly. My treatment and enjoyment lasted until dawn. Two hours in and he broke free from the restraint. Once he tired himself out, I checked the wounds and bandaged them. Grabbing a cloth, I wipe my face and hands dry.

Martial artists are stronger than most and each kingdom have their own technique and weapons. Considering that the Commander comes from the Regila Kingdom, the largest Kingdom on Malot Continent, his martial arts is very high even so, we are evenly matched.

I walk out of my tent to see Serin approaching. "General Opal." He greeted. "Commander wants to see you." I stretch my arms. "What is it about?" He didn't reply as if hesitating to answer.

"Tell him I'm busy." I began walking towards the training grounds. "You won't be going on the mission tonight." Serin finally decided. I paused. "On what grounds?" I asked him, more amazed at the ridiculous words that came out of his mouth than upset I won't be leaving camp.

"I don't know any more details, you'll have to ask Commander yourself." The mission isn't being stopped, I'm just not going. Which means that good for nothing Commander is replacing me. I glance to my right and spot Mia.

I motioned her over and she ran towards me quickly. "Is everything moved?" She nodded. "Everything is moved and everyone is ready at any time." She replied. "Good. Wait until I return." I turn back to Serin. "Let's go."

I just spent time healing him and a little time teasing him, now he wants to strip me of my position when I haven't had enough fun yet. I don't know if he's irresponsible, emotional or idiotic. I'm not sure which one I'm leaning towards.

I enter the Command tent and spot a new face standing at the top of the table where a map I drew lay. The man looked up at me. "General Opal, I've heard great things about you. Even as a mercenary, the people under your command move like an indestructible army." He complimented as if I would be flattered.

I look away from him and straight at the Commander, who stood to the man's right. It seems like they were in the middle of a discussion. Not that I really care. I just came to hear what excuse he'll make up.

"Why am I being taking off the mission?" I asked him directly. He didn't even look in my direction as he replied to my question. "This is the First Prince of Heln Kingdom. He'll be taking over the mission." I chuckle.

I look at the prince and anyone with half a brain can see that he has no battle experience. "This sparring experience isn't the same as battle experience in a war. You do everything to survive and kill your enemy. The only blood this prince has seen is probably his wife's virginity blood."

"For a woman your mouth is very disgusting." The prince said sternly like he was talking to a child. "And the Commander's tongue is very clean, after all it was deep inside of me, multiple times last night and this morning. But we aren't talking about tongues. We're talking about war."

The prince moved from behind the table and took a step towards me. "You really know how to talk but you don't need to worry, I know the plan and the layout of the enemy camp." He said smugly.

"You think that knowing those two things means that you'll succeed? Are you stupid or do you think that those are the only things that matter?" He shook his head. "Of course not. I will have you assisting me."

"That's an order?" He nodded. "My kingdom is paying you to help us with this war. You have no choice." I chuckle. "Really?" I took a step towards him. "I have no choice. Says who?" Just as I was about to grab the prince's throat, the Commander grabbed my hand.

"I say so. You will assist him. The pay will be doubled." He demanded. I pull away from him. "You want me to do the work of a general but not hold the position? On what grounds?" He took a step forward. "This is no longer up for discussion, General. Prince Reign will take over your mission. No one is taking away your position as general."

He's consoling me as though I'm causing trouble. Does this man think that because we rolled around in bed a few times that I'm his woman? I scoffed and punched him in his injured side. He dropped to one knee and I stepped back.

"You already knew was coming here and didn't tell me anything because you knew that out of spite I wouldn't have healed you last night. As expected of the Commander, you were really right. I would've watched you die last night out of spite." He reached out to grab my hand, but I took another step back.

"You must've felt smug when I was straddling you." I chuckle and look at the prince who was watching me with fear in his eyes. "You said it already. I'm being paid, so I can leave at any given time without a care of what happens to you and your Kingdom."

"Do you need to act this way? With you in tow, the plan can still go off without a hitch." The Commander said as he pushed himself up. "You want to put the lives of my people in the hands of a boy who's barely seen blood and has never fought with his life on the line before. Should I be pleased or praise you for your good work?"

"From your information, you're younger than I am. Aren't you looking down on me and insulting me too much?" The prince asked. "I'm younger and I've been in the middle of this war since the time notice of mercenary recruitments have been sent out while you've been in your Kingdom, hiding under your wife's skirt."

I look him over. "If they sent your third brother, then maybe I would've considered it. He actually did some sort of damage to the Yalki Kingdom from the inside." I shook my head. "Since I'm taken off the mission, I'll go get some sleep. Hope this mission works in your favor, boy."
