Chapter 8 - I. TREATMENT

General Opal's POV

Beautifully crafted swords and carved sheathes. Healthy horses and the best feed. Large encampment and the heavy scent of blood. The men don't wash for days, tired from the constant fighting. As a hired mercenary, I've grown accustomed to the sight and smell of the battlefield.

This war started because of the Yalki Kingdom's greed, but the Lino Kingdom wanted to jump in and joined hands with the Yalki Kingdom. The Heln Kingdom was only prepared to fight against Yalki so they were ambushed but Lino.

Hence my presence here. The pay's good and increases with the more men I bring in. I brought in one hundred but now all of the merceries hired are under my command. Including my people, that's eighty-five thousand.

"General!"' Mia burst into my tent, out of breath. I didn't look up at her and continued polishing my sword. "Which team leader got into a fight with the army?" I asked. This was a rare day, normally at least ten fights would happen.

"It's the Commander." She breathed. "He's injured." I paused. "Where is he now?" I stand up and sheathe the sword. "In his tent. He refused to be moved to the medical tent. From what I saw, his blood was black." She explained quickly.

"So what? Did the medics take a look?" She shook her head. "I'm not sure. You know how particular he is." She sighed. "How can a Commander be so hardheaded? He has to pay me extra." I say as I walk out of the tent.

Some of the team leads were sitting a few feet away from my tent and greeted me as I passed by. I nod to them while continuing to walk towards the Commander's tent.

The guards by the stairs allowed me to pass and I entered the tent. The stench of his blood was heavy, but it was mixed with a slightly sweet scent. The Commander sat on the edge of the bed with his side and shoulder roughly bandaged.

Serin, his right-hand man, looked at me. "You took your time." He stated. "This isn't my job. It's also extra, three hundred gold." His eyes narrowed at me. "Serin." The Commander motioned for him to leave.

Serin walked out of the tent silently. I approach the Commander and take off his bandages; the wounds were still oozing blood. Pressing the skin about the wound, he grunted and his muscles tensed under my fingers.

I moved my fingers to swipe up some of the fresh blood then licked it. "Poisonous herbs from the eastern borders. It's called Janve and causes severe hallucinations." I knew it well since I spent some time in that area and used the herb for healing.

"How did you get injured?" I asked him as I walk over to the water basin and wash my hands. "Covering fire." He grunted out. His body heat was higher than normal. The herb was really working its magic.

"With your condition, you can't be healed normally. If you'd gone to the medical tent, you wouldn't be the way you are now." I turn to him as I clean my hands. He looked at me, his face now flushed.

"What method?" He asked softly. "Since you can follow my words and answer accordingly, you're already past the hallucination stage. You need this." I take out a bottle with healing pills. "What else?" He asked, noticing that there was more to come.

"An antidote." His breathing started getting heavier. "No other method?" I shook my head. "No other." He nodded. "Okay."

"I'll tell Serin to find you someone." He shook his head. "Not clean." I scoff. "Then why make the women military prostitutes if you aren't going to use them?" He kicked off his shoes and looked at me. "Why can't you help me?"

"I'm not a prostitute." He tried to stand up but failed. "I know but I'm the only man you've had and you're the only woman I've had." I chuckle. "Commander. Fucking you in the cave was for heat in a snowstorm. Now you want to take advantage of me?"

"Please." He begged. I walk out of the tent without replying. "How is the Commander?" Serin asked. "He's not in a good condition." He nodded and tried to move past me, but I stopped him. "Make everyone move away from the tent by 500m on each side." Serin looked at me in confusion.

"Why?" I look up at him and took a step forward. "To treat him. Why else? Unless you want to watch." Serin took several steps back and cleared his throat. "No. I'll have them do it now." I turn and head back into the tent.

The Commander had his eyes closed and his hand in his pants. I lean against the table and watch him for a while. "You should be bursting at the seams by now." His eyes shot open, but he didn't stop his hand movement.

"Need more material?" I asked as I start undressing. I untie my inner shirt and he groaned. "Take your hand out and lay down." He slowly took his hand out his pants and slowly laid back.

I take a pill out the bottle and approach him but paused as his hands moved down again. "You really are bothersome." I grab a piece of rope and approach the bed. "Hands." He held his hands out and I wrapped the rope around them tightly.

Climbing onto him, I place the pill to his mouth and he swallowed it. "Don't keep too much noise and bear with the heat." I got off the bed and pulled his pants off. "It really isn't too bad."

He looked at me. "Stop looking and help me." I chuckle. "This is your attitude when asking for help?" He didn't say anything and I inspect the wound on his side. The dark color was slowly clearing up.

I step onto the bed and look down at him. "Someone like you in such a position is such a beautiful sight. I almost want to humiliate you." His locked with mine. "Please. Please help me."

"You will be in pain so be mindful of the sounds you'll make." He nodded and I knelt down. Grabbing his hands, I put them above his head and reached in-between us. He groaned loudly. "What did I just say?"

I removed my hand, took off my inner shirt and shoved some of the fabric in his mouth. "Now, you'll be quieter."
