Chapter 258 - Chapter 258: Final Rally

Under Caleb's Blade of the Ruined King, even the Black Mist seemed to thin.

After all, this was most of Mordekaiser's power. If he had not been willing to pay such a heavy price, Viego would never have been certain he could see Isolde again.

Of course, by then, Mordekaiser had already lost his control over Viego. He could only hand the entire matter over to him and let him handle it.

Who would have thought that Viego, that sly bastard, would go off and piece his lover back together on his own, leaving Mordekaiser on the sidelines?

Even the armor had only been delivered into Mordekaiser's hands after Viego was already dead.

Because of that, the Blade of the Ruined King, which contained the power of the Black Mist, had fallen into Caleb's hands.

This was a major matter, because that power was now recognizing Caleb as its master, slowly circling around him.

"How is this possible?"

Even Mordekaiser, who had been a warlord who killed without hesitation while alive, had only learned a little about the rules of the death realm by relying on Raum's power.

Basically, in the death realm, as long as you knew Ochnun and did not provoke those death gods or the Mask Mother, you could continue clinging to existence there.

Of course, if you had methods like Mordekaiser, then building an army of your own was also possible.

Then again, Mordekaiser's conquests in the death realm might not have required that much intelligence.

Otherwise, there was no way to explain how even Viego had managed to make him suffer such a humiliating failure.

Or perhaps Viego really was someone with a much deeper mind than he seemed.

Caleb did not think about any of that. Right now, in front of them, the entire Shadow Isles had only these two champions left.

Those elite combat forces had all been lost during the Ruination and Caleb's later assault on the Shadow Isles.

But Mordekaiser and Thresh still had plenty of reserves in their hands.

Those things were also an important reason Caleb had brought this group of Sentinels of Light, along with Gwen.

They could at least help clean up the small fry. That was still somewhat useful.

Caleb did not even need to give an order. The monsters emerging from Thresh's lantern and Mordekaiser's Realm of Death were shot down one after another by the guns of light.

Caleb did not even need to deal with Thresh himself, because Gwen and Kai'Sa went after him.

One controlled scissors, needle, and thread, stabbing Thresh's lantern full of holes.

As for Kai'Sa, her Icathian Rain all struck Thresh's body.

Mordekaiser no longer had anyone useful at his side, so Thresh's seal had naturally been undone because of that.

But that did not mean Thresh's abilities had received some enormous boost.

It was true that Mordekaiser needed Thresh to handle matters for him.

But after suffering such a crushing loss at Viego's hands, how could he possibly fall for the same thing again?

So when it came to Thresh, he had no intention of giving him even the slightest chance to harm him.

By contrast, Caleb's side was much more united than this so-called king and subject.

"Noxus is useless too. They actually let a giant hunk of iron like this get away."

Caleb did not use Youmuu's Wraithblade. Instead, he picked up that long blade of light.

Against someone on Mordekaiser's level, the so-called special advantage against the death realm could only add so much.

But as luck would have it, the "staff" in Jax's hand, the Last Light of Icathia burning upon it, was precisely the thing that restrained him the most.

"Smash him apart!"

Caleb did not waste words. He stood to the side and helped Jax control the flow of the fight.

After all, Caleb himself could not be considered some especially powerful existence, except when he used wide-area abilities.

The streetlamp struck the armor, and the originally indestructible plate, the same armor that had survived a trip through Noxus without issue, now showed a small dent.

"How can this be?"

Mordekaiser clearly had not expected something like this to exist. The Nightfall mace in his hand still came crashing down with a shriek.

But Jax's figure moved at a strange speed, leaping onto Caleb, who was behind Mordekaiser.

Then came another heavy blow. This strike did not merely dent the armor, even Mordekaiser's massive body swayed slightly.

"What is… this…"

His heavy voice was filled with unwillingness, but Caleb did not give him any more chances to ask questions.

The Blade of the Ruined King in Caleb's backpack had already absorbed enough Black Mist. Next, all he had to do was prevent Mordekaiser from recovering his strength.

Caleb did not overthink it. He used himself as a springboard, constantly supporting Jax's movement.

Combined with Predator and Phase Rush, Caleb could confirm that his own high-speed movement was indeed making Mordekaiser lose track of them completely.

The lamp post in Jax's hands struck faster and faster, almost leaving no gaps.

Occasionally, when a heavy mace blow came down, he was even able to forcibly take it head-on.

On the other side, Thresh's face was full of pain. The souls he had collected over thousands of years were now vanishing at terrifying speed.

But reality left him no room to hesitate. The Sentinels of Light were clearing the monsters on the island at an even faster pace.

It would not take much longer before the Shadow Isles' thousand years of accumulated power were completely burned dry.

"No!"

Thresh roared unwillingly, and more and more souls flew out of his lantern.

This was not an attempt to keep delaying anymore. From this action, like a final flare before death, Caleb could almost confirm it, Thresh was risking everything.

"Spread out!"

Caleb turned his head, but in that instant, Mordekaiser's Nightfall pointed toward Kai'Sa.

Countless souls exploded in the sky. That barrage was so intense that even the Sentinels of Light had to avoid its edge for the moment.

This was Thresh's dying counterattack, filled with the venom and resentment born from the failure of his thousand-year plan.

Kai'Sa's figure vanished from Caleb's eyes. He could only vaguely see a point of light moving at extreme speed.

Caleb also knew that Kai'Sa was the type who excelled at moving around the battlefield and constantly dealing damage.

She was not suited for a direct head-on clash.

So his finger pointed without hesitation at Jax, who still had no idea what had happened.

After a burst of sound, Jax saw Mordekaiser's figure again.

Knowing exactly why he had come here, he swung the streetlamp in his hand without hesitation and leapt straight back onto Mordekaiser's face.

For a moment, compared to the two-on-one from before, this had become a three-on-one.

Mordekaiser's eyes locked firmly on Caleb. Mordekaiser himself had arrived on this plane after death by using Ochnun to fool Kindred.

But how did this man know he was here?

Mordekaiser's original plan had been to kill this woman, who was not weak but lacked direct frontal combat strength, inside this place. Part of her strength would naturally transfer to him afterward.

But the appearance of these two people had disrupted his plan once again.

"Die!"

Caleb confirmed that Jax had jumped behind him, then immediately breathed out a blast of dragonfire toward Mordekaiser.

It was the ability of the Star Forger himself, Falling Star!

After that burst of dazzling starlight, only a helmet remained in place.

Mordekaiser's body had already been riddled with damage, and under Caleb's finishing blow, the entire suit of armor shattered completely.

The three of them returned from the Realm of Death to reality.
