Chapter 257 - Chapter 257: The Blade of the Ruined King (EC)

"What exactly is the story behind this streetlamp?"

"This?"

When Jax reached this point, his mood could not help turning heavy.

Back then, as the sole survivor of the legion, when he had wanted to die in atonement, it had been at that moment that the countless people of Icathia who refused to die had used the last of their strength to let Jax see that one glimmer of light.

"This is the Last Light of Icathia."

Although Caleb had called it a streetlamp, Jax still explained patiently.

"It is a staff. The Eternal Flame remains upon it."

Caleb withdrew his gaze from the streetlamp.

It was only because those nobles had been so bad at fighting, one after another, they had been overturned by him and knocked off the board.

Otherwise, Caleb still felt that streetlamp was missing something.

"If we are going to resist the Void, I hope you will take me with you, Governor."

Caleb's thoughts shifted, but what came to mind was something else entirely.

"There is another matter instead, one that concerns the safety of the entire world."

"It is just a little troublesome."

Looking at Rengar, who still seemed rather simple-minded, this guy who had only his bestial instincts left, Caleb thought of the Sentinels of Light headquarters. There really were a few daggers there.

"Thanks for still remembering me."

The altitude coordinates of the Shadow Isles were far too difficult to calculate, so Caleb used the much more convenient Realm Warp instead.

Of course, he did not even use the ability to turn an enemy's method against them, because there was a bald blue guy here, full of mana.

Caleb had even given him Tear of the Goddess.

Ryze, the branded errand man, really was easier to use than Yuumi.

"Last time, we teleported him all the way into the Immortal Bastion. He still did not die?"

Ryze was rather uneasy. Last time, they had used the other party's carelessness to forcefully teleport him thousands of miles away.

But if even that had failed to kill him, that was going too far.

One had to know that the World's Throat had the best information network. The news that Karthus had died on Demacia's walls had long since reached Caleb's ears.

But Mordekaiser had actually been able to return from there. He really was a ruthless one.

Caleb did not keep thinking about it. With one hand gesture, he brought the entire team to a halt.

This time, aside from the utility getaway cat, the bald blue guy, and Kai'Sa, who had long since Ascended, Caleb had also brought Lucian, Senna, Akshan, and Gwen from the Sentinels of Light headquarters.

Then there were the two daggers he had given to Rengar. Now he had a special advantage against the Black Mist too.

Finally, there was the heavyweight guest this time, Jax.

Caleb believed this streetlamp was most likely capable of dispersing the Black Mist.

After all, not only had the Eternal Flame given Jax an extraordinarily long life, it had also allowed him to survive even under the Void's corruption.

That was rare.

Sure enough, after Jax's streetlamp appeared on the island, the entire Black Mist began to retreat.

"What is this?"

Senna and Lucian were also shocked. They knew nothing about this mysterious man who had appeared out of nowhere.

But the light-related attributes on this man were far stronger than what they held in their hands.

Caleb looked at these Sentinels as if they had never seen anything before, curled his lip, and did not take it seriously.

Once the matter here was resolved, Caleb planned to give these two a Mecha suit each and have them follow him.

On the Void battlefield, the more warriors, the better.

Someone like Lucian, who was agile and had experience fighting many enemies at once, and someone like Senna, who had both group attacks and group buffs, were talents Caleb was still willing to accept. That was more in line with the original purpose behind the founding of the Sentinels of Light.

They could not become a complete joke like in that Ruined King storyline.

If that happened, Caleb would have to cover his face and walk away, then see whether the Celestial Realm had a giant crack he could crawl into.

However, Senna and Lucian did not disappoint Caleb in this regard, because up ahead, there really was a small figure.

According to Yuumi, after the Ruination failed, Vex returned to Bandle City once again.

But then she had a huge fight with her naturally optimistic parents, like all yordles tended to be.

After that, she returned to the Shadow Isles with her shadow.

Caleb silently took out a longsword as tall as a person from his backpack inventory.

It was the sword from the one who had started all of this, or rather, the one who seemed to have started it on the surface, the Ruined King, Viego.

"I'm not planning to stop you. I just came here to find a place to be sad."

Caleb noticed that not far from Vex, there was the music box Viego had once used to collect Isolde's soul.

After Isolde made her request that they die together, Viego had destroyed his own heart without the slightest hesitation.

By the time Caleb arrived at the scene, only this Blade of the Ruined King remained.

"All right…"

Caleb also knew that this all-nighter version of Poppy, or perhaps burnout Poppy, was fundamentally a pessimist.

But when it came to Viego, she seemed to still have feelings that could not quite be explained.

So although Caleb's group hated this person who had brought them so much trouble, under Caleb's signal, none of them attacked first.

"You actually dare come here again?"

The sound of chains drifted eerily through the air, and the hook came even faster.

But after it wrapped around Jax's streetlamp, Thresh felt as if his entire body had been burned by fierce fire.

The pain made him cry out, and he hurriedly pulled the hook and chain back.

"Looks like my guess was right. The Eternal Flame that burned with the hope of life beneath the world really does work against the Shadow Isles!"

The figure behind them, carrying a spiked mace, could already be seen clearly. At that moment, the Blade of the Ruined King in Caleb's hand also began crazily absorbing the surrounding Black Mist.

It was as if this endless, vast mass had instead been ordered to serve Caleb.

"That man only awakened after a thousand years. Sure enough, he had another plan!"

Seeing this, Caleb could not help feeling a trace of guilt toward Viego.

Maybe the man had not been playing at such a low level after all.

Mordekaiser had given Viego power and allowed him to resurrect his dead wife, but of course, there had been conditions.

Through the waters of the Blessed Isles, his skull could pour the power of the death realm into the material realm.

But without the armor inside the Immortal Bastion, he could not walk the world of the living in physical form.

If that were the case, how was he supposed to conquer the world?

As for Thresh's scheme, it was nothing more than letting that foolish king fail, then absorbing all the power Mordekaiser had poured into him.

By then, at full strength and released from his seal, Thresh would be able to become the one in charge of the Shadow Isles.

He could truly gain both freedom and power, no longer forced to submit to anyone else.

But Thresh and Mordekaiser had both underestimated this king and his resolve.

Under Viego's design, the Immortal Bastion had indeed been breached. As for the sealed armor, he had relied on Pantheon, the Aspect of War, and Karma, the Enlightened One of Ionia, two of the finest members of the Ruined Legion, to complete the forced assault.

But after that, almost the entire Ruined Legion returned to normal, and most of the monsters were killed by the Sentinels of Light.

The power Mordekaiser had originally thought he could reclaim vanished without a trace afterward.

In other words, his grand descent had accomplished absolutely nothing.

But today, the Blade of the Ruined King in Caleb's hand silently told those two self-proclaimed "smart men" the truth.

You lost.
