Chapter 83
GEORGIA'S POV
The atmosphere in the room turned brittle, the air thickening with a shock so heavy it felt physical. Nikolaj had frozen, his fork suspended in mid-air. Jaime looked as though he had just been told of a sudden death, his face draining of all color. Lady Maddison's eyes were narrowed on Merry, her expression a mix of calculation and pure disbelief.
Lady Maya sat with her mouth agape, while Alpha Louise and Alpha Reston remained eerily still, their faces unreadable masks of power.
"What exactly are you claiming?" Alpha Reston asked, the clatter of his cutlery hitting the plate echoing like a gunshot.
"I'm saying—"
"Wait," Lady Maya interrupted, leaning forward. "Do you realize the weight of what you just said?"
"I do, and it is a hundred percent true," Merry replied, her voice gaining a steady, arrogant confidence as she realized she held the room's undivided attention.
