Chapter 42 - normalcy

I woke up earlier than I usually did, it was 5 am.

'My arm…'

My arm was very numb, I could barely feel it at all due to a small weight laying on it.

Instead of slowly pulling it out I placed a long portal stretching across its circumference connected to another on the ceiling.

I slowly dropped it into the portal and then pulled it back out by sitting upright.

It flopped uselessly to the side sending pricks up my arm.

After I punched it multiple times I regained full movement with just a little bit of soreness.

Instead of going back to sleep I put on a large headset and watched some YoTube. There were some reports about the raid, just addressing its success.

After watching lots of shitpost I remained awake, there was a funny image format of skinny All Might and his muscle form captioned before and after ___.

If word got out about a student taking down most of a Yakuza in a pro hero operation I couldn't even fathom the amount of slander that could've been pushed.

'Truly a shame.'

I noticed a forum while mindlessly looking around.

It was titled: Mysterious Warper

Its entirety was based on footage from the All Might fight against One For All. Instead of focusing on the fight however, it focused on eye witness reports of multiple heroes seemily materialising out of nowhere.

With further footage, it was hard to see but you could notice heroes randomly disappearing in the background. There was no high quality and most just seemed to be heroes disappearing into thin air, not them 'falling' into the ground.

'Interesting, people are pretty perceptive huh…'

I placed my phone down, it was on 8% and there was no visible charger around.

Sure I could make one, but that was a lot of effort and I had more important things to worry about.

For example, the stirring child next to me, to name just one of them.

8:03 am a small round clock stated as light filtered through the blinds.

Eri was slowly unfurling from her ball and so I lay back down while looking at the ceiling.

I could see her head in the corner of my vision as she sat up and looked around in confusion before finally noticing me.

'AHHH!'

I had to raise a hand to sheild my face from the blinding light, who knows what caused such a thing.

She reached out a tiny hand as if double checking I was actually there. Once it connected with my forehead she started feeling it.

I was very confused and so I gave her some head pats which froze her completely.

I snorted before summoning a little night cap that I placed on her head.

It was meant to point up but had folded halfway, causing it to point downwards.

"Hungry?"

Eri responded with a small nod as I picked her up.

"Cool."

'Now to find the kitchen…'

I fried some eggs and called it a day.

Eri seemed to enjoy them at least, who knows what she was fed before.

However I did notice the fridge had barely any ingredients.

"You want to go shopping?"

We went shopping, at least Eri wasn't so attached I had to help her get dressed.

I also didn't carry her around everywhere, it wasn't healthy for her as she was already physically weak for her age.

'10 minute walk there?'

Looking at my phone, I decided to get the bus where we sat at the front.

I think Eri liked looking out the window, she seemed pretty captivated by the outside world.

Once we got off and walked around while shopping I noticed some stray looks.

I guess I looked older than my age, I was pretty tall and had a hood up.

At some point a dog ran up to say hi.

I knelt down and gave it a couple pats as I watched Eri try the same.

'I should get a pet when I'm older…'

Depending on how busy my life was would depend on the animal I would get, I would feel bad leaving it alone all day if it was a dog but at least a cat can handle it better.

'Hmmm…'

I watched as the young owner walked over with a smile.

"Sorry about that! She's still just a puppy!"

Standing back up I cracked my neck loudly.

"It's fine, you got a real cutie there."

"Haha, thanks! You too."

I snorted and looked down at Eri who was still stroking the dog. I patted her on the head while grinning.

"Alright, let's go. Still got 3 items left."

As we walked away I noticed Eri looking back at the dog.

"You want one?"

She quickly turned as she noticed that she had been caught.

"!"

'Well it wouldn't be a bad idea… actually maybe it would.'

I pushed it to th back of my mind for now and continued shopping.

'Oh? 2 for 1 deal?!'

Once we were done I noticed Eri was fatigued and so I slipped my bags into my domain and picked her up.

"Alright, now we head back."

She ended up resting her head on my shoulder and looking behind me.

'So I got a bunch of stuff, but what to make?'

I decided I would just use a free spin the wheel once we arrived back at UA.

I also may have bought just a couple of plushies, for Eri, not me.

'Yeah, for Eri… not me.'

What a responsible person.

The school day ended as I watched Eri playing with a couple of child's toys and games.

'I should see Rikido and the others…'

I stood up abruptly causing Eri to turn around.

"I'm going to see my friends now, you might remember one of them actually."

Now that I thought about it, she had seen Midoriya before…

I looked down at a now standing Eri, who had her hands outstretched towards me.

"You wanna go too?"

I picked her up.

"Yes." She whispered softly.

I scratched the back of my neck with my free hand.

"They're pretty loud unfortunately."

—The dorms—

"Oh, hi Kurusu." Ashido was the first to notice me. But her eyes also widened as she saw Eri.

'Uh oh.'

I instinctively covered Eri's ears to the best of my ability.

"AND WHO IS THIS?!?"

"Be quiet Ashido, she's like 6 years old."

"Sorry." She walked closer. "Who's the mom?"

"Who's the mom?! You do know I'm not the dad right?!"

I didn't like how she worded that, until I noticed Eri looking up at me with wide eyes.

'Uh oh.'

She grabbed my shirt tightly and buried her head into my chest.

'Haaah.'

"I'm more like… an older brother. The age gap is only like 9 years ya weirdo."

Ashido gasped and clutched her chest in mock horror.

"Wha?! I would never imply such things?! What is this unjust slander!!"

"Tsk." I moved past her and walked up to Sato's room.

"Wait! What's her name!" Ashido ran up and grabbed me.

"Eri."

A little voice graced Ashido's ears.

She collapsed to the ground with a thud.

"Ah! Run from the crime scene!" I ran up towards the stairs, not stopping until I got to Sato's room.

"Haah! 5… flights… of stairs…"

Sato opened his door.

"Hi, come on in I guess?"

I darted into his room and set Eri down.

"Phew. Rikido, meet Eri, Eri meet Rikido Sato."

Eri just waved before sitting on the edge of his bed while looking around.

I noticed the gloves on Sato as her knelt to take a cake out of the oven.

"Midoriya already gave the class a rundown of what happened."

He cut two big slices and one little one of the cake.

"How come you're not in class though?"

He handed everyone a slice.

"Looking after this little one. I should be back soon though."

I cut Eri's slice into small pieces that could be eaten without cutlery.

"Alright then."

Time passed quickly and Ojiro joined us.

I ended up leaving through a portal after two hours where I met Aizawa.

"Leave a note next time."

"Sure."
