The sight of her breaking seemed to act like a dousing of cold water on his rage. Damien's shoulders dropped. He took a step toward her, but Katria instinctively shivered and recoiled, her back hitting the door.
"What are you guys?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
What are you talking about?"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about!" she cried, her voice rising with desperate courage. "The wealth, the obsession with wolves, the way you call me 'lamb'... the subtle, terrifying meanings in everything you say. Why did you really bring me here?"
"I brought you here because you needed it," he said, his voice lowering to a haunted rasp.
"No! You brought me here for a reason, and I deserve to know what it is! I want to go home. I want my mother, my siblings... even my father."
"You don't know what you're saying," Damien countered. "That place was hell."
