Katria stiffened as her husband stepped forward. The atmospheric shift was violent; the air, which had been thick with Cassian's stifling heat, was suddenly pierced by a glacial cold. Damien reached out and seized her hand, pulling her behind the massive breadth of his shoulders. He was so tall that she was effectively buried behind him, unable to see his brother's face.
"What were you doing with her?" Damien's voice was a low, dangerous grate. He gritted his teeth, the muscle in his jaw jumping with a suppressed fury.
"With who?" Cassian's voice drifted over Damien's shoulder, light and mocking.
"Do not dare play games here, Cassian," Damien snapped. "What gave you the right to approach my wife in such a manner? To say such outrageous things to her?"
"What are you talking about, brother? It was a simple meeting between in-laws."
