Loreen's POV
The room did not explode all at once.
It built. Like a fire catching.
Lord Teren spoke first, which surprised Loreen because Teren was usually the one who waited. "Married?" he said. "Your majesty, what do you mean married? When did this happen?"
"This is not possible," Lord Carthen said. He was not quite talking to anyone. He was talking to the table in front of him, to his papers, to the general idea of the afternoon he had been having.
"The prince cannot be married without the council's knowledge. There is a process. There are procedures." Carthen added.
Lord Belric nodded. "There are laws," he said. His voice was the calmest in the room but it carried the most weight. He looked at the king directly.
He continued. "Your majesty, the selection of a royal bride requires council approval. It always has. If what you are saying is true, and the prince has entered into a marriage without that approval, then we are looking at a significant breach of…"
