Sairis's POV
Sairis knocked once and waited. The door opened after a short moment and the archives keeper who he now knows as Daye, stood on the other side looking at him with the expression of a man who had been expecting someone and had started to give up on them arriving.
"I thought you were not coming," Daye said.
Sairis stepped past him into the archives. "I had a delay," he said. "But I am here now."
He refused to think about his conversation with Lady Candice that morning or what it meant for the next two days. He could not afford to sit with that right now.
What the conversation had given him, if nothing else, was a deadline. Two days. That was what he had.
Two days to pull together everything he had found, connect the remaining threads, and come up with something solid enough to mean something before he walked out of this palace for the last time.
