Loreen must have done everything he could to hide his true self until he could no longer keep it buried. Sairis could see it now, clearer than before. It was not just about duty or obedience. It was something deeper.
Loreen was the heir. The entire kingdom watched him and depended on him to carry on the royal bloodline. It was expected that he would choose a beautiful noble lady, marry her, and give the crown a strong son.
That was how it had always been.

Sairis let out a quiet breath, his fingers resting loosely on his shirt. Even as the thought crossed his mind, he knew there were other possibilities even though it was forbidden by the king.
Loreen could choose a male omega. It was not unheard of. It was rare, but it existed. A male omega could carry a child.
But the risks were too high and it was too dangerous that no male omegas would even want to try going down that path.
