Sairis's POV
Sairis sighed, dragging his fingers through his hair as he looked away for a moment. "I was wondering when you would ask," he muttered under his breath.
Loreen arched a brow at him, waiting.
Sairis rolled his eyes lightly, though there was no real humor in it. He knew this moment had been coming.
Loreen was not the kind of man to ignore something like this. If anything, he would have asked days ago if Sairis had not made sure to stay out of his way.
And he had tried.
He had avoided him since that night, keeping to Lady Candice's quarters, keeping his head down, burying himself in books, anything to stay out of sight.
Coming to the remembrance hall today had been part of that plan. No one came here during the week. It was quiet, empty, safe. And most importantly void of the prince.
Or at least, it was supposed to be.
That was not the only reason he had come here though. His eyes flicked briefly to the portrait ahead before he forced himself to focus again.
