Chapter 52 - Sairis, always.

Loreen's POV

Loreen kept walking without paying attention to where he was going. His steps echoed softly against the stone floors, but he barely heard them. His mind was elsewhere, moving faster than his feet.

It was always Sairis.

He passed servants who bowed as he went by, but he did not slow down or acknowledge them. He did not even notice the direction he was taking until he came to a stop in front of a set of large, familiar doors.

Only then did he look up.

His late mother's remembrance hall.

Loreen frowned slightly, his brows drawing together. How had he ended up here?

For a moment, he just stood there, staring at the doors. He could turn back. He should turn back. There was work waiting for him. Reports he had left unfinished in his private study.

The court was still in session, and his father would still be there, listening to testimonies, making decisions. The investigation alone could last the entire week, perhaps longer.

He exhaled slowly.
