Chapter: The Unexpected Invitation
The amusement park day finally came to an end.
The lights were shining brightly, and the streets were filled with people leaving after a day of fun.
Kiefer, Lily, Rose, and Jay walked toward the exit.
Jay looked at the teddy bear in her arms and smiled.
"Thank you for today. I had a really good time."
Kiefer nodded.
"We're glad you came."
Rose immediately jumped in.
"Not just glad. We were lucky you came!"
Kiefer looked at Rose.
"Don't exaggerate."
"I'm not exaggerating," Rose said. "You usually spend your free time reading reports."
Lily laughed.
"She's right. This might be the first time in years Kiefer forgot about work for a whole day."
Kiefer looked away.
"Maybe because this was more interesting than work."
Everyone became quiet for a second.
Rose and Lily looked at each other.
They noticed.
Jay also noticed.
But Kiefer didn't realize what he had said.
After saying goodbye, Jay walked toward her car.
She waved.
"See you again."
Kiefer smiled.
"See you, Jay."
Jay drove away.
But even after she left, she kept thinking about the day.
The roller coaster.
The laughter.
The teddy bear.
And especially Kiefer.
Meanwhile, back at the amusement park...
Rose suddenly stopped walking.
"Wait."
Kiefer and Lily looked at her.
"What now?" Kiefer asked.
Rose pointed at him.
"You invited her."
Kiefer looked confused.
"Invited who?"
"Jay."
"I didn't."
Lily smiled.
"Not today. But you want to see her again."
Kiefer stayed silent.
Rose crossed her arms.
"See? Silence means yes."
Kiefer sighed.
"You both create stories in your heads."
But Lily smiled.
"We have known you since childhood, Kiefer. We know when something is different."
Kiefer looked at the empty path where Jay had disappeared.
For some reason, he remembered her smile.
The way she laughed.
The way she looked at the teddy bear.
A small smile appeared on his face.
Rose noticed.
"Did you just smile?"
"No."
"You did!"
"No, I didn't."
Lily laughed.
"Some things never change."
The next morning, something unexpected happened.
Jay received a message.
She opened it and froze.
It was an invitation from the world's biggest company.
But not for a business meeting.
It was a personal invitation.
From Kiefer, Lily, and Rose.
A message that said:
"We are having dinner together tonight. We would like you to join us."
Jay looked at the message for a long time.
A smile slowly appeared on her face.
Because she knew...
This was not just a dinner invitation.
It was another chance to meet Kiefer.
