Chapter: The Secret Behind The Smile
The company family event continued until the evening.
The lights around the headquarters were glowing, music was playing, and everyone was enjoying themselves.
For most people, it was just a celebration.
But for Jay, it was something she would never forget.
She had spent the day watching Kiefer.
Not the CEO.
Not the person whose name appeared on every business magazine.
Just Kiefer.
The person who remembered employees' names.
The person who laughed with children.
The person who helped everyone without expecting anything in return.
Jay stood near the garden area of the company, watching everyone having fun.
"He's really different..."
She whispered.
"You know, you say that a lot."
Jay turned around.
It was Lily.
Jay smiled.
"I didn't notice you."
Lily laughed softly.
"Most people don't. Rose is usually the loud one, so everyone notices her first."
Jay smiled.
"You three are really close."
Lily looked toward Kiefer and Rose.
"We have been together since childhood."
She smiled.
"We were there before the company, before the success, before anyone knew our names."
Jay looked curious.
"How did you create such a huge company?"
Lily looked at Kiefer.
"Because Kiefer never wanted to build just a company."
"He wanted to build a place where people felt they belonged."
Jay listened carefully.
Before she could reply, Rose appeared.
"Are you two having a serious conversation without me?"
Lily smiled.
"Here comes the chaos."
Rose put her hands on her waist.
"I heard that."
"Because it was meant for you."
Rose laughed.
Then she looked at Jay.
"Come with me."
"Where?"
"I need to show you something."
Jay followed Rose.
They walked through the company garden until they reached a small wall filled with pictures.
Jay looked surprised.
Photos of Kiefer, Lily, and Rose were everywhere.
But they were not business photos.
They were childhood pictures.
Three kids playing together.
Three kids dreaming together.
Three kids promising they would always stay together.
Jay smiled.
"You have kept all these?"
Rose nodded.
"Of course."
She pointed at one picture.
"Look at Kiefer here."
Jay looked.
A young Kiefer was standing seriously while holding a notebook.
Jay laughed.
"He looks exactly the same."
Rose laughed.
"He was always like that."
Lily joined them.
"When we were children, he made plans for everything."
Rose pointed at another photo.
"He even planned our picnic schedule."
Jay laughed.
"Really?"
"Yes," Rose said. "He wrote down the time for eating snacks."
Everyone laughed.
Even Kiefer, who had just arrived, smiled.
"You all talk too much."
Rose immediately smiled.
"We are telling Jay the truth."
Kiefer looked at the pictures.
For a moment, he became quiet.
These memories meant everything to him.
Because before he was a CEO...
Before the company...
He was just a boy with two friends who believed in his dreams.
Jay noticed his expression.
She saw something she had never seen before.
A little sadness.
A little happiness.
A lot of memories.
"Kiefer..."
He looked at her.
"Thank you."
She smiled.
"For showing me this side of you."
Kiefer was surprised.
"Why are you thanking me?"
"Because most people only see your success."
She looked around.
"But I got to see the person behind it."
For a moment, Kiefer didn't know what to say.
Those words stayed with him.
Behind them, Rose quietly whispered to Lily:
"Did you see that?"
Lily smiled.
"Yes."
"He is smiling again."
Lily nodded.
"Jay brings out a side of him we haven't seen in years."
Rose crossed her arms proudly.
"I knew something interesting would happen."
Lily laughed.
"You just wanted drama."
"That too."
As the night ended, Jay left the company.
But this time, she didn't leave as a visitor.
She left as someone who had become part of their world.
And Kiefer...
For the first time in many years...
Found himself looking forward to tomorrow.
