Chapter 24 - THE GIFT

Chapter: The Gift That Meant More Than Gold

The birthday celebration continued late into the evening.

The company headquarters, which was usually filled with meetings and business discussions, had transformed into a place full of laughter.

Employees were taking pictures.

Families were enjoying food.

Children were playing around.

And for once...

Kiefer was not thinking about work.

Rose and Lily watched him from a distance.

"He looks happy," Lily said softly.

Rose smiled.

"I don't remember the last time I saw him relax like this."

Lily looked at Kiefer.

"Probably when we were children."

Rose nodded.

"Before he started carrying the entire company on his shoulders."

After everyone finished celebrating, the employees started leaving.

But Jay stayed behind.

She noticed Kiefer standing alone near the company garden.

He was looking at the decorations and the empty space where everyone had celebrated.

Jay walked toward him.

"Kiefer?"

He turned around.

"Oh, Jay."

"You are still here?"

Kiefer smiled.

"I wanted to thank everyone before they left."

Jay looked around.

"You really care about them."

Kiefer nodded.

"They gave their time, their talent, and their trust to this company."

He looked at the building.

"This place wouldn't exist without them."

Jay smiled.

"You always say things like that."

"Like what?"

"Things that remind people why they respect you."

Kiefer looked away with a small smile.

Jay suddenly remembered something.

"Oh, I almost forgot."

She reached into her bag.

Kiefer looked surprised.

"You brought something?"

Jay handed him a small wrapped gift.

"For you."

Kiefer looked at it.

"You didn't have to."

"I wanted to."

For a moment, Kiefer didn't open it.

Most people gave him expensive gifts.

Luxury watches.

Rare items.

Things worth thousands or millions.

But this felt different.

Because it came from Jay.

He slowly opened it.

Inside was a simple notebook.

Kiefer looked confused.

"A notebook?"

Jay smiled.

"Yes."

"Why?"

"Because you always write plans for everyone else."

She pointed at the notebook.

"So I thought you should have something where you can write your own thoughts."

Kiefer became quiet.

It was a simple gift.

But somehow...

It meant more than all the expensive gifts he had received.

Because Jay had noticed something nobody else noticed.

He always cared for others.

But he rarely thought about himself.

"Thank you, Jay."

His voice was softer than usual.

Jay smiled.

"You're welcome."

From behind a nearby tree...

Rose and Lily were watching.

Rose whispered:

"Are we spying?"

Lily replied:

"Yes."

"Is that wrong?"

"Probably."

"Are we going to stop?"

"No."

Rose smiled.

"I knew you understood me."

Kiefer looked at the notebook again.

"I have received many gifts before."

Jay listened.

"But this one is different."

"Why?"

Kiefer looked at her.

"Because you didn't think about what a CEO would want."

He smiled.

"You thought about what Kiefer would want."

Jay felt her heart skip for a moment.

She looked away.

"I just wanted to give you something meaningful."

Kiefer nodded.

"You did."

The next morning, something unexpected happened.

Everyone in the company noticed something.

Kiefer had started carrying a notebook.

The same notebook Jay gave him.

Employees were surprised.

"Mr. Waston uses that notebook every day?"

"Yes."

"Who gave it to him?"

Nobody knew.

Except Rose and Lily.

When they saw it, they immediately smiled.

Rose whispered:

"That notebook is more valuable than all the expensive gifts he received."

Lily nodded.

"Because it reminds him that someone sees the real him."

That evening, Kiefer opened the notebook.

On the first page, he wrote only one sentence:

"Remember to enjoy the moments, not just build them."

He looked at the words.

Then he smiled.

Because for years, he had built a company for millions of people.

But now...

Someone was reminding him to build a life for himself too.

And that person was Jay.
