Chapter 283: The Wager Between Tet and Seito—A War of the Gods?
....
Half an hour later...
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—!
Seito and his group finally reached their destination! The planet before them was a singular sight, appearing like a massive, floating chessboard. Black and white chess pieces, sixteen of each, were positioned across its surface as if the entire world served as a stage for a grand game.
After a quick scan of the terrain, Seito's gaze shifted to the figure opposite them—a young boy with a mischievous grin who was sizing them up with curiosity. It was Tet.
"Oh ho? You two look quite..."
Seeing the "Blank" siblings, Tet seemed to recall something, his eyes widening in surprise. In this crossover world, even though he hadn't summoned Sora and Shiro to Disboard himself, it didn't stop him from recognizing them. After all, long before Disboard was even named, a pair of genius humans named Riku and Schwi had appeared.
Of course, those two were long dead. But the striking resemblance Sora and Shiro bore to Riku and Schwi immediately caught Tet's attention.
Furthermore, Tet sensed the distinct aura of the Game Divinity emanating from Sora. Clearly, he was facing a fellow God of Games!
"Interesting, how very interesting~"
Tet laughed with genuine delight before turning his attention to the siblings. "Hey, hey—do you two like playing games?"
Sora and Shiro exchanged a glance.
"Obviously!" Sora replied with a composed smile. "Shiro and I have never lost a game to anyone. Not to humans, and certainly not to gods!"
The underlying meaning in Sora's words was clear to everyone present. He was issuing a challenge—a divine duel of wits between two Gods of Games!
"Hahaha!" Tet doubled over, clutching his stomach as he roared with laughter. He was thrilled. After all these years, another pair of "interesting" humans had finally appeared.
Looking back at Sora, Tet smiled. "I'm more than happy to play, but first, you have to tell me: what are you all doing here?"
"What else?" Seito drew his Spatial Dragon Blade. "I'm here to cut you down."
Tet: "..."
The smile on Tet's face froze. Wait, he's actually here to kill me?
Tet's mouth twitched as he scanned Seito's companions. He could disregard Ako; she was only an Early-Stage Poison God, far below his level. But the siblings... the Game Divinity could potentially suppress some of his power. And then there was Seito himself—a peak God-rank God of Space.
If they actually came to blows, Tet knew he wouldn't hold the upper hand.
"Are you sure about this?" Tet said, recovering his smile. "I have my own divine pantheon here, including an entire race of gods."
On Disboard, the sixteen races lived under his rules. The Old Deus—the gods—were his fundamental strength. And among them, he held a trump card: Artosh, the God of War.
"Are you just bluffing now?" Seito's expression turned peculiar.
He knew Disboard's situation inside and out. The Old Deus were supreme on their own planet, but outside? They were nothing. Artosh was the composite concept of "War"—the strongest concept on that planet. But that supremacy only existed within the context of Disboard.
Outside of his home world, Artosh would, at best, be an Early-Stage God who mastered the Authority of War. Nothing impressive. After all, one's realm determines one's vision. If Seito gave Kirukiru Amou the Authority of War back on the Planet, she could also claim to embody the "concept of War." It wasn't that big of a deal.
"I'm not bluffing," Tet shook his head. "I just don't recall ever offending you guys."
Tet was genuinely confused. In the Domain of the Gods, most factions were currently in a phase of peaceful development. Why were these people trying to kill him out of the blue?
"You don't have to offend us for us to come after you," Seito said flatly.
The opponent was a peak God-rank powerhouse. Killing him would result in a massive windfall of Divine Power. Seito saw no reason to let such a "boss" walk away.
"How about we settle this with a game instead?" Tet suggested with a smile. "If you win, I'll give you all the Divine Power I've accumulated. If you lose, you give yours to me."
Settling things through a game was the most "harmonious" solution Tet could offer. Seito and the others looked at each other.
"Fine," Seito nodded. There was no reason to refuse, especially since Divine Power was on the line.
"Excellent! Then I'll set the rules," Tet said after a moment's thought. "Tomorrow night at 8:00 PM, bring the inhabitants of your planet over. We'll have a contest between our respective species. How does that sound?"
Seito's mouth twitched. A contest between species? Tet certainly had a high opinion of his own world. But... wait, I agreed to a game, shouldn't I have a say in the rules?
Seito mused internally. He couldn't let the ordinary people of the Blue Planet fight; their overall strength couldn't compare to the inhabitants of Disboard.
However, he could bring in the people of the Fatui Empire. Queen Lingna from the 11th floor was already his Subordinate Deity. If he helped her ascend to God-rank before the deadline, she could lead the charge.
With her and the other Harbingers, his side's total combat power would dwarf anything Disboard could throw at them. He could even use the next twenty-four hours to hunt other minor gods and ensure every single member of the Fatui reached Godhood.
"No problem!" With a plan in mind, Seito accepted.
"Good. See you in one day." Tet smiled, turned into a streak of light, and vanished back toward Disboard.
