As the days past Nolan started thinking differently. Every night he went to sleep, he was plunged into nightmares,he started fearing himself, that he would lose control and hurt his wife and son.
Tonight he went back to sleep, but this time the dreams were not nightmares; it was a future, where he and his family lived happily for hundreds of years,his son had married a woman and had a child,making him a grandfather,he continued being Earth's hero and protector,saving the day,he was not bound by Viltrum's mission he was free he was happy.
"This is the life that you will have if you let go of Viltrum's mission, choose not ambition and duty, but love,peace. This is the only way for you to achieve true happiness"said a gentle voice of a man that he couldn't identify.
Nolan woke as a different man that day; he finally understood what he wanted. Nolan looked at his family, his son, his wife and decided,from that moment forward,he would not stand with Viltrum; he would stand with his family, the ones he came to love and care for.
Nolan put on his Omni-Man suit and flew to the sky, overlooking the world that he had become attached to.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"a voice of a familiar yet unfamiliar man reached Nolan's ears. Nolan turned with vigilance towards the man,but froze when he saw him. The man was tall, around 2.30 meters, he had beautiful black wings,with long, wavy, black hair and black eyes.
"You were the one from my dreams?!"asked Nolan.
Eldrin nodded and said.
"I showed you what could be and what would be,an attempt to bring you into the light,was it all in vain?"
Nolan looked at the peaceful planet below him and his eyes softened.
"No,it wasn't"but then his eyes narrowed, and he turned towards Eldrin and asked.
"But how do you know my future?"
Eldrin said.
"Your life is quite the tragic one,born into a civilization whose sole purpose is to conquer and destroy,with a mother who couldn't love her own child,a father too brutal and detached,you were robbed of love and affection,you were molded into a rather brutal man yourself,yet that wasn't the end of it,a deadly virus was unleashed upon you's species,killing billions,reducing you're numbers to around 50."
Eldrin looked at Omni's man's eyes with rare sympathy.
"You and I are both Monsters, Molded by our past into this. What keeps me from truly becoming one is my own purpose,but what is it that keeps you sane?, gives you something to live for, something that suppresses your monstrous nature?"
Eldrin didn't give Omni-Man time to answer and said.
"It is none other than your own family,the one that has ignited that small but growing spark into your heart."
Omni man was left standing there in a daze and after 3 minutes, he looked at Eldrin only to see that he had disappeared.
In a certain school, two figures could be seen walking together; it was Mark and his friend William.
"Do you wanna go out to eat a burger?"asked William.
But Mark scratched the back of his head and answered.
"No can't do, I have something to do, maybe tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow it is!"nodded William with a smile.
After fist-bumping each other, they went their separate ways.
A tall man was walking down the street,his black wings, long wavy black hair and absurd height made him stand out like a sore thumb; people were taking photographs of him only to find out that the photos were pitch black; it was Eldrin's anti-paparazzi technique. What annoyed Eldrin the most were the paparazzi and people taking photographs of other people without their consent.
Erskine himself could not stand them; one time, paparazzi literally broke into his house just to get a few pictures,so Erskine made the job of paparazzi extremely strict, preventing them from being able to photograph others without their consent,if they violated this law,they will not only lose their job,but will also have to pay a fine of 1000 Empire currency, which was essentially equal to 1000 euros.
As Eldrin was walking down the street, passing the angry people who couldn't take photos of him, he spotted a familiar figure.
"Mark Greyson, a young man with a remarkable will made of steel"thought Eldrin as he walked towards the kid.
"Greetings, Mr.Mark"said Eldrin.
Mark was startled and asked.
"Hi?do I know you?"
"My name is Eldrin. I'm a friend of your father,heard you awakened your powers."
Mark was a bit confused but nodded and asked.
"So how can I help you?"
Eldrin looked at Mark and asked.
"Do you wanna become a superhero?"
Mark nodded.
"Then follow me, there are some things that you need to learn,although your father is quite skilled, he's more of a muscle head."
Eldrin flew into the sky without waiting for Mark to say anything and Mark, after hesitating, flew and followed after Eldrin.
In a dessert two figures stood facing each other,it was Mark and Eldrin.
"Come at me with everything you got"said Eldrin casually.
Mark charged towards Eldrin, throwing a rather sloppy punch,that Eldrin simply slapped away with his left hand.
Eldrin couldn't help but feel pain when he saw that sloppy punch and said.
"Ok, first of all, don't ever punch like that ever again. "Eldrin then took a basic boxing stance,and showcased the basics,jab, cross, hook and uppercut, his form immaculate and his punches lightning fast, generating strong gusts of wind.
"You have immense power, but you don't know how to properly use it. Now, you could at most use 40 percent of your body's strength effectively."Said Eldrin as he adjusted Mark's stance.
"Throw a right jab, a left hook followed by a right uppercut"said Eldrin as he watched Mark doing it quite well for his first time.
"Keep doing it, do not stop at all,and after that, we will move into footwork."
The days passed, Mark was a fast learner,and after 4 days,he could officially be considered a proper boxer.
"Now, I will teach you Muay Thai. You don't really need to train or condition your body due to having powers,so we will start with all the basic moves,jab and cross, which are essentially the same as boxing,elbow strikes and knee strikes, grappling,and some kicks."Eldrin proceeds to showcase all those moves with perfect precision; his elbow strikes were like blades, cutting the wind.
Another 3 days were spent teaching Mark the basics of Muay Thai and due to his experience with boxing, he learned it quite fast.
"Okay, now today I will teach you something really important,something that's gonna give you an edge"said Eldrin
Mark's interest was piqued and he asked.
"And what's that?"
Eldrin looked at him and answered.
"Hysterical strength,fight or flight scenario, or as you may know, adrenaline rush, I will teach you to enter this state at will, something that may take years to even achieve. I will accelerate this process by planting a mental switch that you can turn on and off at any time."
Eldrin's hands glowed purple and he touched Mark's forehead, he spoke, his words carrying black magic.
"Imagine that a villain is trying to harm your mother, your heart starts to beat rapidly, adrenaline-filled blood is pumping into your veins, your mind enters a state of absolute focus,pain is dulled, there is only one goal,and that is to run fast enough to stop the villain from hurting your mother"
Mark was in a trance; he was imagining exactly that,but it was so realistic that his body actually entered that state of hysterical strength.
Eldrin, with just a thought, used black magic to plant that mental switch into Mark's head.
Mark got out of his trance and looked at Eldrin, confused.
"To turn on that mental switch, all you have to do is think about it"said Eldrin.
And Mark did just that,and to his shock,he actually entered the state of hysterical strength at will.
