Chapter 32 - Talokan, and Lokis glorious purpose forever shattered

In the deepest part of the Atlantic Ocean was a majestic underwater city called Talokan.

There lived the Talokanil, essentially mutated humans that adapted to live underwater.

THUD!

Nomar, who was sitting in his throne, slammed the but of his staff on the ground to gather everyone's attention

The surface world has become too dangerous.

The people of the surface have fully united their might, now unmatched with weapons of great destruction.

His voice echoed through the underwater hall

The safety of our people is being threatened. The Wakandians have formed an alliance with them, giving them access to vibranium.

He then paused and looked around at his kind and said in a solemn tone.

I will attempt to negotiate with their leader, perhaps form an alliance.

But if I fail, you must flee and go into the deepest part of the ocean, the Mariana Trench, said Namor in an authoritative voice that left no debate.

Namor could see the anger and sadness in their eyes; perhaps they were too afraid to lose Namor and their home.

I have sworn to protect you at all costs, and I will fulfil my duty no matter the cost, thought Namor with boundless determination.

And with a booming voice, he shouted.

RISE TALOKAN!

On a coast located near Mexico, two figures were standing, seemingly waiting for someone.

One had long white hair, beautiful white wings, and stood at a height of 2.43 meters. He was Erskine himself.

The other was a man with long, black, wavy hair and equally beautiful black wings. He stood at a height of 2.30 meters. He was none other than Eldrin

SPLASH!

THUD!

out of nowhere, a figure shot out of the sea and landed a few meters away from the two angelic figures.

It has been quite a long time since I visited the surface, the air and water here are pristine, said Namor while looking around in awe and surprise, not expecting the environment to be so clean.

Erskine smiled at his surprised face and said.

Since the establishment of the human empire, we have made considerable efforts in ridding pollution and waste from our environment.

Namor turned to look towards the two unusually tall figures, though his expression was a bit grim due to their obvious strength, he still remained calm; he was a hardened warrior and a leader of a kingdom after all.

My people call me K'uk'ulkan, but my enemies call me Namor, said Namor, introducing himself.

Erskine, said Erskine.

You may call me Eldrin, said Eldrin.

Eldrin then got straight to the point.

I assume that the reason you called us here is to negotiate.

Namor looked at Eldrin and answered.

Indeed, a non-aggression pact or an alliance will be much appreciated.

We do not desire unnecessary conflict.

Erskine thought for a while and said.

A non-aggression pact is a guarantee; we do not have any ill intentions towards your people after all.

And as for an alliance, we could share some of our technology in exchange for vibranium.

Namor was not surprised by this and agreed on the spot.

He could tell his words were genuine; if Erskine wanted to, he could conquer Talokan whenever he wanted, yet he didn't.

He had also heard tales of their technological might. If we got our hands on such technology, my people and kingdom would thrive.

We will gift you two arcs for free. said Erskine and continued.

We will also give you access to the Human Empire digital store, where you can buy anything you want: serums, weapons, medicine, anything.

Thank you Mr.Erskine, let us have a pleasant alliance, said Namor.

2 hours later

In a heavily fortified underwater prison.

A man was being drugged by two 3-meter-tall custodians.

RELEASE ME, MORTALS!

I'M LOKI OF ASGARD, AND I'M BURDENED WITH GLORIOUS PURPOSE.

Is that so?, asked Eldrin, who suddenly appeared beside the two custodians.

Mr.Darkling, saluted the two custodians.

Would it be possible to borrow him for a moment? asked Eldrin politely.

Of course, Mr. Darkling said, one of the custodians, while throwing Loki on the ground.

Loki, who was about to use magic, smirked.

Fools.

But before he could even move, he was restrained by two four-meter-tall humanoid shadows that appeared beside him.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! shouted Loki in frustration.

Eldrin looked Loki dead in the eyes and asked.

So, Mr.Loki, what is your glorious purpose, power, authority? or something more.

Loki then answered with a solemn tone.

My glorious purpose is to rule as king, to be worshipped; that is my burden.

I'm afraid you do not currently possess the qualities of a king; it would be wise to put these foolish ambitions to rest. Said Eldrin and then continued.

It is also very obvious that the burden of yours comes from selfishness and not selflessness, Loki, said Eldrin while staring at Loki's soul.

Loki snapped when he heard that.

I WAS BORN TO RULE! Your mortal mind could not possibly understand a god's glorious purpose!

When Eldrin heard the word god, he tilted his head and said.

You believe yourself to be a god? If you are truly a god, then why can I restrain you? Why can't you fight back? Surely, if you are a god, you could kill me fairly easily with just a thought.

Loki seemed to have no answer to that

Have you perhaps realised the truth, or did you know already and simply deny it?

Eldrin then looked directly at Loki's eyes and said.

You were never a god, just a stronger alien, that's all.

After a few moments of silence, Eldrin turned towards the custodians with a polite smile.

I apologise for the delay. You may take him now.

After the custodians saluted, they dragged the now depressed Loki away.

Normally, I would prefer not to be so harsh, but I believe it was necessary.

Loki is 1050 years old and still acts like a spoiled child, causing problems for both Thor and his family, often leading to life-threatening crises that could result in death, though Eldrin, while walking around, lost in thought.
