When did my life get this messy?
A week ago, my biggest concern was figuring out if I could stretch twenty bucks for groceries, dodging my stepmom's emotional abuse, and trying not to fail my sculpture midterm.
Now, I was standing in the campus parking lot, the wind freezing my face, staring at a car that probably cost more than my entire existence.
And Noel Donovan was casually sitting in the driver's seat, waiting for me like this was a completely normal.
I looked around the lot, paranoid someone from my department would see me and start rumors, then looked back at his tinted window.
"Five minutes," I said, holding up five fingers.
Inside the car, the corner of Noel's mouth gave this tiny twitch. "Get in."
The passenger door was already open.
I took a breath and climbed inside. It wasn't the same leather from last night. This interior was darker, and simpler.
The realization made my stomach twist.
Last night's car. The one I had destroyed.
