Veronica's POV
The Hideout
I slowly opened my eyes but didn't look around as I knew I was still in that metal room.
My body was growing weak by the day, even my mind was moving slowly after the repeated sleeping injections they've been giving me.
"I need some water. Any one there?" I tried to call out but my voice was barely coming out.
Just then the door swung open and a man walked in holding a tray of food and water.
"Can you tell me how long I've been here?"
He stared at me for a long time.
"You've been here for some months."
My body froze on hearing him.
Months?
Jonathan? Kids? Work? Don't they know I'm missing?
"Is my husband looking for me?"
He stood staring at me.
I tried to stand up, but my legs were shaking beneath me.
That's when I recalled the woman's voice.
"Does he know I'm alive?"
"Let's say he doesn't have to worry about you."
I slowly sat and ate the food.
The man picked the tray and was about to leave.
"Please, is he searching for me?"
