Chapter 69 - Chapter 69: The Saga of Dung and the Vow of Five Years of Love

The next morning, as the dawn light filtered through the iron bars and fell upon Sushila, a grotesque scene was revealed. When Sushila woke up, she felt her entire body weighed down by a sticky, rotting stench. The moment she touched her face with her hand, she let out a piercing shriek. In truth, that massive cow hadn't just reigned over Sushila's cage all night; it had actually defecated right on her face! Sobbing piteously, Sushila wailed, "O God! This beast actually crapped on my face! What has become of my beauty? I won't survive this stench!" She began to shake the prison bars like a maniac, "Open up! Open the door! I will beg for Arohi's forgiveness at her feet, just get me out of this hell!"

When the news reached Arohi's ears, she felt a slight pang of pity. She came to see Sushila's wretched state. Holding her nose, Arohi told the guards, "Alright, that's enough. Get the cow out and clean this cell thoroughly. But beware, do not let them escape." Sushila quieted down a bit, but that foul memory and the stench of dung did not leave her mind.

Meanwhile, a breeze of happiness was blowing through the palace once again. One day, Arohi called Snigdha to her room and said with great affection, "Snigdha, you've grown up so much before my eyes. I'm thinking it's time to look for a suitable groom for you. Do you have someone in mind, or shall I arrange your marriage with a boy of my choosing?" Snigdha kept her head bowed and remained silent for a long time. Then, pleadingly, she said, "Ma, please give me some time. I... I want to have the person of my choice as my life partner. Please Ma, don't force me." Arohi understood the language of her daughter's eyes. She said with a smile, "Alright, dear, as you wish."

When Snigdha returned to her room, little Prabhasha (who had now grown into a more beautiful teenager) hugged her sister and began making demands, "Didi, tell me the truth, are you in love with someone? At least show me, what does my future brother-in-law look like? He must be very handsome, right?" Snigdha laughed and said, "I will show you, sister, I'll show you everything when the time comes." Prabhasha wasn't one to give up; she pried until she learned that her sister's romance was now a year old. Surprised, Prabhasha said, "It's been a year and you didn't tell me? Am I a stranger to you!" Hugging her sister, Snigdha said, "I was in so much trouble, I never got the chance to tell you."

The wheel of time turned even faster. Four more years passed. This long journey of love between Rupanjan and Snigdha was not an easy one. In those four years, there were many misunderstandings; it took a long time for the shadows of Snigdha's past mistakes to fade. It took an entire year for Snigdha to regain Rupanjan's trust. How many nights did they spend without eating after a fight, and how many times did they cry for fear of losing each other! But in the end, love and loyalty triumphed.

Today, their love completed a total of five years. Sitting at their familiar riverbank, Snigdha and Rupanjan leaned their heads on each other's shoulders, looking at the sky. Rupanjan gripped Snigdha's hand tightly and said, "Look Snigdha, we've spent five years together just like that. So many storms passed over us!" With a wide smile, Snigdha replied, "Yes Rupanjan, today I consider myself the luckiest person in the world. I will never break your trust again." Rupanjan smiled and said, "It's time now, Snigdha. Now you must tell your parents about us. How many more years will you stay hidden like this?" Snigdha sat up straight and said in a firm voice, "Yes Rupanjan, there is no more fear. I will tell my parents about our relationship tomorrow. God is with us."
