SF Chapter 105: New York Again
♫♪ Today
I just wanna take you higher
Throw your hands up in the sky
Let's set this day off right ♫♪
"Morning, Dani," Monica went to the kitchen and spoke unfazed to her cousin, who had apparently just arrived.
[Monica commentary]
Monica explained why she was so nonchalant with her cousin different behavior.
"After growing up around Ross, and after spending a few months at Claire's, Dani walking into my apartment singing before saying hello doesn't even make my top twenty weirdest family mornings."
[Commentary ends]
Dani kept singing and dancing,
♫♪ Pop-pop, it's show time (show time), show time (show time)
Guess who's back again? (Brrah)
Oh, they don't know? (Go on, tell 'em)
Oh, they don't know? (Go on, tell 'em) ♫♪
"I'm back!" he finally stopped and gave his cousin a tight hug.
Dani took a better look at her. "Uh, Mon, did you get even more beautiful?"
She rolled her eyes, but a smile crept onto her lips.
"Nice to see you back, Dani. I'll prepare breakfast for us," she said, giving him a kiss on the cheek before heading toward the fridge.
Shortly after, Rachel came out of the bathroom, drying her hair with a towel. She was also wrapped in another towel around her body.
"Whoa, Rach," Dani made an okay sign at her, "good to see you well!"
She smiled. "You never change, do you?"
"And hi, Dani. Let me put some clothes on, then I'll give you a proper hug."
"Why not now? I have no problem with it," he said, striking a pose as if he were making a sacrifice.
"You wish!" Rachel half-chuckled, half-scoffed, and headed to her room.
Moments later, she came out dressed and gave him a hug.
Then the door opened, and two more friends appeared.
"Oh, the rich boy is here," Chandler greeted in his usual style.
"Hi, Dani," Joey went in for a hug.
Dani ended up putting a hand on both their shoulders. "My good guys, what's the plan for today?"
"I have a show tonight, everyone is going," Joey said excitedly, "you can come too, if you want."
"Nice!" Dani agreed promptly.
Chandler gave him a 'poor bastard' look, already knowing the kind of show they were in for.
Everyone sat down at the kitchen table to have breakfast.
Monica started placing things on the table and served what she had just prepared.
"Wow, I think you should come more often, Dani," Chandler remarked, noticing that breakfast was much more generous.
"So, how are you going to spend today?" Monica asked her cousin, placing a few more French toasts on the table and sitting beside him.
"Because we all have work," she added.
"I came with a friend, we're going to tour New York," Dani commented while making himself a plate. "I'm accepting recommendations for great cafés and special places."
Rachel fished for gossip. "What kind of a friend? Is it a girl?"
"Yep," Daniel nodded, "but we're just friends," he lied without even blinking.
The quartet kept looking at him until Dani commented, "Hey, I can have a girl friend I haven't slept with. Just like you six - no one sleeps with anyone here, right?"
"He's got a point," Joey said.
"But just to make it clear - I wouldn't say no to her," Dani added.
Joey looked at Monica, then at Rachel. "He's got a great point," he agreed, "I'm the same!" making both girls roll their eyes.
Rachel completely changed the subject. "I read two horrible scripts this week - 'You and I' and 'Everybody Wants John' - but the third one was really good: 'The Proposal.'"
She told the story, "The plot revolves around a Canadian executive who discovers she may be deported from the U.S. because her visa renewal was denied."
"Determined to keep her position, she convinces her personal assistant to pretend to be her temporary fiancé," Rachel finished.
"Interesting," Chandler remarked, but without any enthusiasm.
They talked a little more, before he glanced at his watch. "Now, boys and girls, I think I have some work to do."
One by one, everyone went their separate ways.

Dani went back to the hotel, which was close to Monica's place. Lexi was staying in a room near his.
They got ready and went out to explore the city.
After a few hours, they were sitting at a fancy café near Central Park.
"Okay, we went to Lincoln Center, the Museum of the Moving Image, and The Paley Center for Media," Dani said, checking off the places they had visited during the day.
Lexi took a sip of her coffee before saying, "We can also go to places you want. We don't need to stick only to my interests."
"Huh?" He looked at her. "Oh, don't worry, Lexi. I like this kind of stuff too. Just not as much as you."
"I'm not a freak cinephile perv-"
He got kicked in the shin.
"Are you sure you don't want to come watch my friend's play?" Dani asked.
"Yes. I put up with you all day, so I need some time to myself," she joked.
"Whoa, we did all the touring you wanted, and I get a mean comment?" he made a face.
Lexi whispered, leaning close to him. "I also know I'll still have to put up with you after you get back to the hotel tonight..."
"Apology accepted," Dani grinned.
She ignored him, but soon smiled. "This is really tasty," Lexi said, pointing with her fork at a savory pie she had ordered.
"Here," she offered, putting some on her fork and bringing it to his mouth, which he promptly accepted.
"Wow, you're right," Dani widened his eyes. "Let's switch it," he quickly swapped plates with her.
"Dani!" she hit him again in the ankle.
They kept fooling around before she went back to the hotel and he headed to his cousin's place.
