SF Chapter 104: Hilary's Party II
"Lexi got hit on by like four guys. Mischa, two. And I also got hit on by two," Haley explained.
"What??" Dani exclaimed, looking at each of them in turn.
Then he grinned. "I got hit on by eight girls. I win!" He struck a victory pose.
Lexi and Mischa deadpanned at him.
[Dani commentary]
"When you're at a party, it's basically impossible to prevent someone from flirting with your friend - especially if she's very attractive," Dani commented. "But my security was nearby. I know how some idiots can get the wrong ideas, particularly when they're drunk."

"You came in a Lamborghini, and with a security car behind you," Lexi pointed out, "obviously there will be that kind of girls all over you."
"There is also the fact that several girls here know that you are the screenwriter of Mean Girls, and that you are making other films," Mischa added. "Sooo..." she lets it rang the reason.
Dani made a face. "Why don't you two also point out that it might be because I'm handsome and have a defined body?"
"Oh, I guess that might be a case," Haley joined the conversation. "We saw a guy hitting on you, Dani," she revealed, making the three of them laugh.
"Wow!" He turned to his niece. "You're only drinking juice tonight, Haley."
"No way!" she whined.
Mischa defended her, "Don't worry, we can get you some, Haley."
But Dani quickly countered, "She's 15 and has never gotten drunk. You're going to take care of her if things go bad."
"Never mind," Mischa backed off. "Juice is good for health. You know... vitamin C and all those stuffs," she concluded, making the three of them laugh, while Haley just pouted.
Then a blonde girl approached the table. "Hello, everyone," Hilary greeted, "good to see you're enjoying yourselves!" she joked, noticing they were laughing.
"Oh, the birthday girl," Dani stood up first, with the rest following.
"Thanks for coming, Dani," Hilary gave him a polite hug, and then greeted the other two, "you too, Lexi and Mischa," with both girls smiling and congratulating her.
"And you..." she paused, looking at Haley, probably trying to remember if she knew her from somewhere.
"Hilary Duff, you don't remember her?" Dani said out loud, eyes wide in mock surprise.
The blonde looked a bit embarrassed. "Uhm..."
But Lexi quickly nudged him. "Stop messing with her."
"I'm Haley Dunphy, Dani's family," she introduced herself, trying to act natural.
"Oh, yeah," Dani made a face like he was remembering something. "I brought a guest, I hope you don't mind, Hilary," he remarked shamelessly pointing at his niece.
"Not at all," she chuckled. "Nice to meet you, Haley," she said, shaking the girl's hand.
[Hilary Duff commentary]
"I met Dani, Mischa, and Lexi at the Primetime Emmy Awards," Hilary revealed, "but we only talked for a short time."
"I'm a fan of his - I really like Mean Girls and Percy Jackson," she concluded.

"Oh, here is your present, Hilary," Dani said, handing her a small bag.
"Thank you, you didn't have to," Hilary smiled and opened it.
It was a Tiffany box with an envelope. "It's very cute," she said, opening the box with the bracelet before moving on to the envelope.
"IOU...?" Hilary read the letters on the card.
"I own you, one time."
"What?"
"Sorry wrong card," he changed to another equal IOU, "I owe you, one time. There's also a Terms & Conditions," Dani pointed out.
The blonde raised an eyebrow and ended up reading the other paper out loud. "Terms & Conditions: It's preferable that it be legal; No drugs; No requests that would get me arrested; preferably no requests that would get YOU arrested."
"No requests involving me kissing another guy; No requests involving you and another guy..." she paused and gave him a slight glance.
She went on, "No requests that would get either of us on the front page of a tabloid. 'Reasonable' shall be determined by me. Complaints regarding the definition of 'reasonable' may be submitted and will be ignored.
Expiration Date: Never. Happy Sweet Sixteen, Miss Springfield's Favorite beer
- Dani."
The four girls kept staring at him until Hilary finally laughed.
"It's a very unique gift, thanks," she smiled.
Some girls called her name.
"Oh, I need to go over there. Have fun," she said before heading to the other group.
"Did you just compare her to a beer from a cartoon?" Haley commented.
"Really? That's what you found strange, Haley?" Lexi remarked dryly.
"Well... it's Dani, you know?" Haley said, trying to defend herself.
"She has a point," Mischa commented. "And I've only known him for a short time."
Lexi ended up laughing, which quickly spread to the others.
"Anyway," she said, changing the subject, "you're going to New York next week, Dani?"
"Yep," he confirmed. "I'll stay there for a week or two. I need some inspiration for writing Percy - and also a vacation."
"If anyone wants to come with me, I can arrange that," he added.
Haley groaned. "I have school. Mom would never let me go."
"I have filming, I can't," Mischa said.
Lexi looked thoughtful. "I'm not in the next episode. I have a few days off. New York doesn't sound like a bad idea."
And the four of them kept talking, eventually heading off to dance in a more VIP area so they wouldn't be bothered as much.
[Haley commentary]
Haley was already in her pajamas, sitting on her bed.
"I can't believe I spent the whole night with Mischa Barton," she remarked with an incredulous look. "Mischa Barton! The protagonist of The O.C.!"
"And Lexi too," she added.
Haley then glanced around before commenting, "I saw the way Mischa kept sneaking glances at Dani..." she pointed out suggestively.
"Lexi too - she's suspiciously very comfortable with him, even if she is her friend," she narrowed her eyes.
"But some thoughts and gossip are better left unsaid," Haley concluded.

After the party, Haley was dropped off at her house, and the trio headed to Malibu. They were all naked in Dani's bed.
"The girls were all laughing about your funny gift," Mischa told Dani. "Hilary showed it to her friends."
"I still have that other card - the IOU. I can give it to you," he smirked.
"The 'I own you'? Who would want that?" she scoffed.
"Oh, I have some other news," Dani remembered. "My mother found a house nearby, and I'm buying it."
"What?" both girls exclaimed.
"I like living here with my brother, and I'll probably keep doing that," he explained, "but having a place of my own is good too. Besides, the house I'm buying was built for privacy and extra security."
"Why do I feel like you only have bad intentions?" Lexi said dryly.
Dani leaned closer to her. "There's going to be a mini cinema in the house."
Lexi looked at him thoughtfully, clearly liking what she heard.
"Whoa, I think he got you, Lexi," Mischa chuckled.
