After capturing the Pokémon Hunters, they were handed over to Officer Jenny. Ash had realized he couldn't wring any more useful information out of these grunts, and Mr. Sasaki formally thanked him.
"It's nothing. Even without my help, I'm sure you could have resolved it yourselves, Mr. Sasaki."
"Hahaha, don't be so modest. We really didn't want to get dragged into any messy conflicts, so your help was immense. As promised, we will mobilize our networks to keep a close eye on this organization for you."
"Thank you. Well, it's about time we took our leave."
Seeing that Ash and the group were preparing to go, Mr. Sasaki stopped them. "Wait just a moment. I think it's best if I show you the mirror that the Hunter organization has been coveting."
Hearing Mr. Sasaki say this, Ash was slightly surprised. While he was curious about what kind of mirror would attract the Hunter organization, it was, after all, a Sasaki family heirloom.
"Sure, no problem. Besides, a voice in my ear just told me I should let you see it," Mr. Sasaki added.
"...???"
Everyone was slightly confused by Mr. Sasaki's phrasing, but when he handed the mirror to Ash, a human face appeared on the glass.
"Green?!"
Seeing the face, Ash was stunned. It was a girl he knew named Green! Not only that, but Green was extremely close to Ash—close enough that they had practically confessed their feelings to each other.
The Green inside the mirror was equally surprised to see Ash. But then she yelled frantically, "Ash! I don't know how you can see me through a mirror, but listen to me! Do not go near any places with rippling space! You'll be teleported to another world! Absolutely do not come near them! Absolutely not! Don't..."
Before Green could finish her sentence, the image vanished.
Listening to Green's warning—which hadn't contained a single plea for him to save her—Ash scratched his head helplessly. "That silly girl. Looks like she's in trouble."
Saying that, Ash handed the mirror back to Mr. Sasaki and called out to the surrounding air, "Since you told Mr. Sasaki to show me the mirror, you have a way to send me over, don't you?"
"Correct. I can send you over. But that world is incredibly dangerous. Are you absolutely certain you want to go?"
The sudden voice surprised everyone, but they didn't panic. Mr. and Mrs. Sasaki had seen a lot in their lives and knew some behind-the-scenes secrets of the world. Misty and the others trusted that since Ash wasn't attacking, the voice wasn't an enemy. Otherwise, Ash would have already released his entire team, ready for war.
"Even if you say it's dangerous, there's no way I can just leave that idiot girl to fend for herself. Just give it to me straight: can you send me over or not?"
"No problem."
"Good! How much time do I have to prepare? Is half a day enough?"
"That's more than enough."
Ash then turned to Mr. Sasaki. "It looks like I'll be intruding on your hospitality a bit longer." Mr. Sasaki simply chuckled. "Of course, it's no problem at all. If anything, being able to witness something so fascinating with my own eyes is an honor."
"Thanks. Sorry, Misty, Suzie, Lara, Brock. It looks like you'll have to wait for me a bit. I have an idiot I need to go save."
Misty and the girls nodded understandingly. "Stay safe. That voice said it's going to be dangerous."
"Don't worry. Since it's dangerous, I'll be bringing my old friends with me."
After comforting the girls, Ash smirked. It was time to bring out the big guns.
"Hello, Professor Oak... Please send over my Nidoking and Nidoqueen. I need their help over here. Oh, and Gyarados and the Tentacruel too. Send them over."
"Hello, Professor Birch. Please transfer my Zigzagoon over. I need his help. And my Aggron too."
"Hello, Professor Rowan. Please send over my Honchkrow."
Through the Sasaki family's transfer machine, a pile of Poké Balls arrived. Ash silently released all of them, except for Tentacruel.
"ROAR!!!"
With two earth-shaking roars, the Alpha Nidoking and Alpha Nidoqueen appeared before Ash. The husband-and-wife duo immediately took up guarding positions at Ash's sides.
"Zigza!" Upon materializing, Zigzagoon darted its eyes around, locked onto Ash, and happily leaped onto his shoulder.
"ROAAAAAR!" Aggron materialized with a deafening bellow, its heavy footsteps shaking the ground as it stood solidly beside Ash.
"ROAR!" Gyarados unleashed a massive roar upon appearing, then affectionately nuzzled Ash.
"Caw!" The last to appear was Honchkrow. It flew out, landed next to Ash, and silently surveyed the surroundings.
Looking at his veteran team, Ash spoke softly. "I need to take you all with me to save someone. That's why I called you here. You are the absolute top-tier combatants among my Pokémon. I'm counting on you for this one. Absol, Houndoom, Mightyena, you three are coming too. Green really knows how to make work for me."
Seeing Ash was ready, Pikachu hopped onto his shoulder. Meowth and Blissey stepped up to his side.
Ash then turned to the Pokémon he was leaving behind: Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Primeape, Rapidash, Arcanine, Pidgeot, Psyduck, Eevee, and the others. "You guys stay here with Dragonite and protect Misty, Suzie, and Lara."
"Um... what about me?" Brock asked.
"Men protect themselves!" Ash shot back.
So cruel...
Ignoring Brock's depressive aura, Ash continued, "You guys and Dragonite, protect them well. I'll be back soon. And Gardevoir, don't get so agitated. This mission is dangerous."
But the cheerful Gardevoir shook her head. "Gar!" (I'm not afraid!)
Seeing her determination, Ash felt helpless. "Ugh... fine. It's about time to begin anyway. Aerodactyl and Kabutops will be a big help too. And Momma Bewear, I leave things here in your capable paws."
"Eee!" (Leave it to me!)
With everything set, Ash nodded and shouted, "Let's start!"
"Very well."
In a flash of light, Ash vanished from where he stood. At that exact moment, time in Ash's world completely froze. The figure of Arceus appeared briefly in the time-stopped world, glanced around, and then vanished as well.
