Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: White Haired Woman

Upon stepping into Luofu's dock, Gilgamesh and Tingyun made their way towards the unoccupied starskiffs to drive towards the Divination Commission. A light step crunched at the marble stone, the wise king's face once firm and stern--was now full of amusement and excitement.

"Do you mind telling me what that tree is over there?" Gilgamesh asked, stopping at the rear.

"That?" Tingyun pointed her smooth hands towards the towering roots.

"Yes, I've noticed that early and can't pinpoint what it was. That tree radiates abundance of energy."

Tingyun pressed her hand to her chin, tail swaying slightly before it stopped. She raised her head to gaze at the towering roots.

"Ambrosial Arbor, once the most treasured of Xianzhou luofu. If I remember correctly, the two thousand Star Calendar; Yaoshi planted Ambrosial Arbor to give Xianzhou immortality." She stopped, debating what words she could use, then went on.

"But over the time between the war of Xianzhou luofu and Abominations(Abundance's minions), the tree succumbed to a deep dormant position." Her voice carried with fascination, the history of Ambrosial Arbor was simply too deep, even when she was a kid, school already taught her history.

"Interesting indeed, to think they could defile the blessing that abomination gave. It seems they realized what kind of consequences it would manifest if they took the blessing without comprehending it." The wise king gave a faint smile.

"It's also the reason why countless souls shred each other, staining innumerable worlds into deep crimson blood." A cold icy voice suddenly appeared next to Gilgamesh, and Tingyun, who was immersed from their conversation, flinched. Her fox ears and smooth fluffy tails went stiff.

Her heart feels like bursting out from her chest, I mean, who wouldn't? When this woman suddenly appeared out of nowhere. She glanced at the woman, her pure white cascading hair like a snow, black and blue dress, beneath her chest was a white orb. High heel-boots that reach to her knee, and a black blindfold covering her eyes.

"Ho? You seem knowledgeable in this topic, blind woman." Gilgamesh didn't even glanced at her, his eyes occupied to the root.

"...it's simply how history tells us." The icy haired woman gave a short response.

And Tingyun suddenly felt an unexplainable fear towards her. Her left arm was shaking, yet forced herself to hide it behind, fearing it might cause any trouble to the king.

"I-its seems so, your highness…"

"Indeed," He nodded.

His gaze then finally settled on the woman, who stood next to him unmoving. Gilgamesh could feel your radiating coldness, not metaphorically but literally, even his body seems to be getting colder but simply brushes it off.

"So, what is your objective? I doubt you're only here to try to have a conversation with me." His sharp eyes stared to where her eyes were.

"...it's nothing." Her voice is still cold as ice seems to freeze the air around them.

"I just heard you two were talking about that cursed root." Her fingers move toward the rear, gazing at the distance.

"And… you're strong."

Upon hearing her words, the wise king let out an amused laugh. Truly, this world of surprisingly individuals who can instantly recognize his greatness.

"Sharp eyes despite being blind, woman. To know the radiance of this king miles away, even to take such deep courage to face me!" He turned his head back to Tingyun.

"Isn't this marvelous, Tingyun? To think anyone can still recognize this king's unfathomable brilliance."

"Certainly, King Gilgamesh!" Tingyun forced herself to clap, boosting Gilgamesh's ego.

The woman in front of Gilgamesh simply ignored him, continuing to look ahead. The aura around her seems to be reminiscing something. But alas, peace is not an everlasting event, and eventually it shall succumb to the chaos and destruction.

"Hm?" Jingliu and Gilgamesh turn their heads simultaneously, and an imaginary beam passes through them.

The amusement in the king's face disappeared, replaced by a scornful look towards the being who ripped the space like it was ripping a paper, covered with golden withered trunks. Multiple of them emerged from the crack and mara-soldiers also came out.

Their stances, their timing, as if they were waiting for this moment to gang up the king and his vessel.

"Pest after pest, you're staining my eyes, mongrels." Gilgamesh coldly looked at the abomination who started to surround them.

"Five hundred years and yet Xianzhou Luofu still got swarmed by them." The white haired woman turned her head to Gilgamesh.

"What should we do, King Gilgamesh?" Tingyun took a step back and hid behind the king, like a frightened child.

"Nothing." He shook his head, then looked at the white haired woman.

"Go clean up this mess, blind woman."

Jingliu stared back at him, and the bone chilling aura seemed to be spreading out. Her thin lips parted away and asked,

"Is that an order?"

"Naturally, fending off these incompetent mongrels shouldn't be a problem for you."

"And why should I follow your words?" She retorted.

"Because I am the king." His voice light and arrogant, dismissing her defiance.

The woman seems to stare at him before turning her head away, a quiet whisper escaping from her mouth, enough to be ignored.

"...at very least lend me a sword." Her voice cracked with inexplicable driedness.

"Very well." Gilgamesh nodded his head, and the gate in his vault opened, and a single sword dropped in front of Jingliu.

Without waiting, Jingliu gripped the lean sword, feeling the weight perfectly matches her. While examining the sword in her hand, the abomination also didn't just idle back. They lunged forward with incredible speed! Tearing through air like a bullet, their weapon raised, aiming to decapitate this woman.

*Swosh…*

Like flowing water through the stream, a delicate flash of slash passed through them. Leaving trails of whiteness and coldness, the woman they wanted to kill– is now behind them.

They couldn't comprehend what just happened– no, they could never comprehend it. Because, comprehension needs a mind which they lack.

*Shatter!*

*Shatter!*

*Shatter!*

The mara-soldiers turned into a fine ice sculpture, before cracks traveled to their body and eventually disappeared into a faint dusk.

"Sha!!!" The withered trunks' beings let out their cries, they gathered imaginary energy to their palm. The space itself trembles upon making contact with it, after all, imaginary energy itself is a higher dimensional thing, just by drawing to it can already cause such impressive feats.

"Sha!" They simultaneously fired their beam at the woman, who merely side-stepped, narrowingly dodging the beam. The ground behind Jingliu turned into a scorch.

*Boom!*

*Boom!*

*Boom!*

Her step immediately dove forward, it was so fast, even a naked eye would not be able to process if she was moving.

*Swoosh.*

A single strike was enough to deal those withered trunks' abomination, a feat no one could ever do. The once crowded abomination– was now an empty space, leaving a faint coldness and ices at the ground.

The woman touched the blade with precision then her attention went back to the king who waited for her. Her step, light as a feather, traverses towards the king.

"Not a bad move, blind woman." Gilgamesh complemented, his crimson eyes still glued to her.

"I could say the same to this sword," Her voice mused.

"It's sharp, a simple misuse of this is death penalty itself."

As she about once again felt its sharpness, it suddenly disappeared into a golden moots of light. Jingliu inexplicably felt empty in her hand, Gilgamesh could feel her eyebrows twitch.

"Hmph, the treasures in my vault is filled with immense powerful, so it's natural for me to have such a worthy weapons in my treasury."

"...sigh." A soft sigh escape from her lips, her hand clenching tightly, feeling the hardness in her hand.

"Disappointed that you could not feel my treasure? Hahaha! Be disappointed then after all, not many could freely uses it. Engraved it to your soul and feel its power, now missing in your grasp."

"Arrogant bastard." Jingliu let out an irritated sigh, and whispers to herself. And Tingyun, still hiding behind Gilgamesh, ears sticking out.
