Chapter 2 - chapter 2: The wise King's words

"Hm. Not bad, it seems humanity has reached their fullest potential without my guidance." He mused, staring at the cockpit. Behind him was Tingyun, her amber eyes darting between the king and the pilot who was shaken.

"I--yes, your majesty." She answered with hesitation.

"With the help of craftsmans in Xianzhou, they were able to build this starkiff for transport."

Gilgamesh waited, staring at the vast emptiness of the universe and the distant stars scattered everywhere like a peck of dust. Then, he scoffed. He turned around and walked away.

"Your majesty?" Tingyun called out, following him from behind.

"Those Aeons… it seems no matter what era I am in, humanity still hasn't become independent. Still needed a guide to lead them." Gilgamesh calmly talked, as Tingyun became even more determined to scold her past for trying that stupid ritual.

"That…"

"Silence. Your words are still not needed." Gilgamesh abruptly cut her off, his gaze sweeping through her. And Tingyun flinched at the crimson eyes filled with calm lake yet fury of a monarch.

"To think humanity has stoop this low, clinging to those fools! Unacceptable, unforgivable. Nevertheless, I commend their efforts to advance this high."

"Thanks?" Tingyun muttered, confused about what to say.

"Anyway, your majesty, there's something I would like to talk about. About the starkiffs route… I received a call from Madam Yukong about this matter and wanted to… welll…" She hesitated but Gilgamesh merely raised his eyebrow.

"Speak clearly." He commanded.

"Ahem. I meant to say, Madam Yukong wanted to meet you. She didn't explain much but it seems she's interested in how you got inside the starskiff."

"Ho?" Gilgamesh let out an amusing snort.

"Very well, I'll give her a privilege to meet this king. Pass my word, vessel."

Tingyun brightened, she bowed, smiling, she grabbed her gadget and began calling. Gilgamesh looked at her then continued walking, on his way, cloud knights curiously looked at him. He ignored them, merely walking ahead until he found himself back at Tingyun's room.

"To think I'd be summoned here, a world where divinity is still roaming and different races still exist. A commendable universe." Gilgamesh crossed his arms, golden portal ripples and his personal seat– golden, befitting to him, a king.

Then he sat down, opening the stone tablet and began reading. Unbothered by the fact that he was in a different universe. If this was his younger self, there's no doubt this universe could handle that arrogant and prideful era of his–unnoticed. Chaos may unfolded, deaths, and destruction follow his every step in this vast universe.

Footsteps echoed, and the door opened. There, Tingyun stares at Gilgamesh. She immediately walked next to his side and peek at what he was reading.

"Unknown language…" She muttered, curiously gazing at the unknown dialects.

"Nevermind about that," She shook her head and continued.

"Your majesty, Madam Yukong was delighted to hear your response and now, the ship will be going back to Xianzhou Loufu."

"I see, well done." He bluntly offered his empty praise.

She went back staring at the stone tablet, and silence returned from her room, leaving only the soft grumble of the engine.

"Your majesty, this is..?" Tingyun curiously asked.

"Past reports from Uruk, nothing for you to worry about."

"Uruk?" Unfamiliar name, Tingyun stayed quiet, waiting for Gilgamesh to continue.

"My prosperous kingdom." Gilgamesh offered small and direct words, as Tingyun nodded her head in understanding.

"Uruk…" A small smile crept into her face.

"You majesty, may I speak boldly?"

"Granted."

"If your majesty is still here, then I, as the Ambassador of Whistling Flame Merchant of Xianzhou Luofu, wanted to offer a trademark to your kingdom~." She rubbed her hands playfully and her eyes crinkle at the corner, Tingyun's smile widened like a child.

"Unnecessary, my kingdom has long been destroyed but the people still live on." Gilgamesh replied, his crimson eyes never leaving the dialects.

"Oh…" Tingyun let out a small sigh, the potential customer's kingdom had already been long destroyed. Probably because of the anti-matter legion?

As silence stretched, Tingyun's phone beeped loudly as she finally took a step back. She took out her phone and stared at the screen for a moment, before looking up to Gilgamesh.

"Your majesty, we have arrived at Xianzhou Luofu's entrance gate. Should we go now?"

"...hm. Very well, let's go." The tablet shut and it disappeared in a golden dust, even his throne, much to Tingyun amazement.

Gilgamesh and Tingyun head out, in the corner of their eyes notice a giant entrance that bore a large seal. The wise king gave it a quick look before continuing his walk.

"That's the entrance to XianzhouLuofu, your majesty. All ships, either who come in or who go out, always pass through here. You could say it's a security inspection."

"I can see that, splendid work."

The sound from the speaker travels, welcoming them warmly. It keeps repeating itself, unnoticed by Tingyun and everyone else.

The starskiff then slowly moves inside the massive entrance, just as Gilgamesh stared at it. A golden sunlight hit his face, yet he neither flinched nor squinted his eyes. Upon arriving, it reveals massive boxes and starskiffs, and the quiet and empty sight.

"Weird… shouldn't Madam Yukong be here and greet us? I clearly remember she orders the cloud knights to welcome our arrival." Tingyun tilted her head, confusion wrote in her face.

"..." Gilgamesh didn't respond, he just stepped outside, inhaling fresh air and Tingyun followed him.

The cloud knights who accompanied them were already standing, their silver armor glinting.

Just as Tingyun was about to open her mouth, Gilgamesh suddenly stopped his track, and Tingyun, who noticed it too late, bumped her head into his back.

"Your majesty?" She rubbed her head, looking up.

"Be ready! On your guards!" Gilgamesh's voice echoed loudly, causing the cloud knights to flinch. They looked at him with questioning gazes.

But in that moment of questions stares irritated Gilgamesh, he furrowed his brow and continued. His voice was already furious.

"Fool! Don't you hear what I said, or are you mongrels deaf?! Must I repeat myself!?"

The cloud knights gripped their weapons, reluctantly forming their formation. Their body clearly relaxes despite the formation they just perform, mad and oblivious to why he suddenly made them to be on guard when no danger was clearly there.

"Umm, your majesty? Is something wrong?" Tingyun looked at Gilgamesh, her jade eyes meeting his crimson eyes.

"Just a mongrel clinging and hiding behind those containers," An arrogant snort escaped from his lips and gaze passed.

"Mongrel?" Tingyun followed his gaze and there, multiple knights covered with withered leaves and roots.

"-!!!" Their bodies stiffen.

"A mara-soldier?! When did they infiltrate the cargo?!" The cloud knights gasped in shock, their muscles clenching together.

"Weird… how can a mara-struck soldier be here? It's not possible, this place should be packed with cloud knights, even Madam Yukong personally raises the guards here solely not to let those abominations sneak in…"

"Sha!!!" The mara-soldiers let out weird cries, their body already moving forward, their blade raised higher.

*clang!*

The cloud knight immediately blocked its path, the sheer force of it already made him weak!

"Take this!" He tilted its weapon, the blade slid down and followed by a loud cracking sound, and the mara-soldier flying back!

"Miss Tingyun! Go, we will hold this abomination back!"

*Clank!* *cling!* swoosh!* *bang!*

The sound of swords meeting, the air getting sliced and the explosion of different energy collided.

"That…" Tingyun hesitated, glancing at Gilgamesh who merely crossed his arm.

"Your majesty…" She said slowly.

"Mongrels clinging to an imitation of immortality–an abomination no longer can be called human." He spoke, watching the battle with practical calmness.

"Yes, they're what we called abominations, they worship the Aeon of Abundance, discarding life in search of absolute immortality in exchange for their sanity…"

"Hmph. Without me, their king, humanity truly becomes astray from their purpose, clinging to an abomination that has no respect to the balance of existence."

"Gate of Babylon." He uttered in a calm voice, golden interdimensional spaces opened, the heads' staffs came into view. It gathers energy, forming it into an orb.

"Fire!"

The golden energy shoots out! It travels so fast like lightning, it didn't even take a second for the blast to hit the mara-soldier.

*Boom!*

*Boom!*

A series of explosions, thick smoke floating around. The cloud knights stood there in astonishment, they simultaneously looked back and saw the wise king and his calm expression.

"Amazing… " They muttered, as the thick smoke dispersed, the mara-soldiers who got struck found themselves torn apart. Half of their body is gone, unable to regenerate and eventually falls down.

"What are you mongrels standing for? Go fend off those abominations!"

The cloud knights shook their heads and immediately let out a battle cry and began clashing their swords to the remaining abomination.

"Lead the way, vessel." Gilgamesh then ignored the clash between two opposing groups, behind him was Tingyun, following him with wide eyes.

"Your majesty, that was an amazing attack! To think you have that kind of ability!" She claps her hands.

"Heh, naturally." Gilgamesh smirked proudly, he laughed while Tingyun continued her endless praises.

"As expected of you, your majesty! With your abilities, surely no one could take you head on."

"Fuhahaha!"

Thus they passed through different massive containers and starskiffs, the wise king Gilgamesh and his vessel, the foxian, Tingyun, continued their journey.
