Chapter 28: A Father's Helplessness
Obito silently looked at Wang's unconscious body. His breathing had finally returned to normal.
In a quiet voice, he whispered,
"I'll... find another way. A way that will never force him to suffer through that pain again."
Rin looked at him silently.
She knew this moment was just as painful for Obito as it was for Wang.
One hour later...
Wang's eyelids slowly fluttered open.
The first thing he did was place his hand over his chest.
His eyes widened in surprise.
"My wound...?"
It had completely disappeared.
It was as if there had never been an injury at all.
Only then did he realize that his head was resting in his mother Rin's lap.
Her eyes were red.
The dried traces of tears still remained on her face.
As soon as Wang moved, Rin woke up.
She immediately leaned toward him in panic.
"Wang!"
"Are you alright?"
"Does it still hurt anywhere?"
Her voice trembled.
Every word carried the pain of a worried mother.
Wang slowly shook his head.
"I'm fine, Mom..."
After a brief silence, he continued,
"Dad attacked me with the Wind Sword..."
"It hurt so much..."
"Then I passed out because of the pain."
Rin gently stroked his hair.
"Don't misunderstand your father, Wang."
"He would never hurt you on purpose."
"He truly believed you would be able to endure that pain."
"And when you lost consciousness..."
"He didn't waste even a single second."
"Using the healing powers of both Wind and Water, he completely healed your wound."
"Then he carried you here to the medical room himself."
Wang listened quietly.
Rin continued,
"Learning how to awaken your body's natural healing through Wind is extremely important."
"If the day ever comes when you're seriously injured and there's no doctor nearby..."
"This ability could keep you alive until you master complete healing through Water."
Wang frowned.
"But why do I have to learn all of this?"
"Why would I ever need to heal myself?"
Rin remained silent for a few moments.
Then she spoke softly,
"I can't answer that question... not yet."
"When the time comes..."
"Your father will tell you everything himself."
She gently held his hand.
"For now, just know this..."
"The day you leave for Planet Ahnes after your marriage..."
"Your entire life will change."
Wang stared at her in confusion.
Rin took a deep breath.
"You're not an ordinary human, Wang."
"The blood of two different worlds flows through your veins."
"I carry the blood of the people of Earth..."
"And your father..."
"...belongs to the Royal Family of Planet Ahnes."
"He is the Crown Prince of Ahnes."
"That's why you have inherited the power of both worlds."
"When you and Hinata travel to Ahnes..."
"You'll need these powers to protect yourself..."
"To protect Hinata..."
"And to protect your future child."
"That is why this training is necessary."
"And your father is already trying to find another method..."
"...one that will allow you to learn how to stop bleeding and heal your body through Wind without suffering such terrible pain."
Wang fell silent.
Countless questions filled his mind.
At that very moment...
Whoosh...
The automatic door of the medical room slowly slid open.
Obito walked inside.
The instant Wang saw his father...
His body instinctively trembled.
The memory of the unbearable pain in his chest came rushing back.
Without realizing it, he moved closer to Rin.
Rin tightened her grip around her son's hand.
Obito stood silently for several moments.
There was no coldness in his eyes.
Instead...
They were filled with deep regret...
And the helplessness of a father who wished he could take his son's pain upon himself.
Silence spread throughout the room.
Father and son looked into each other's eyes...
This time...
Both of their hearts echoed with the very same pain.
