Chapter 29: A Father's Decision

Obito looked at Wang with tearful eyes.

There was none of the usual sternness in his voice this time. Instead, his words carried only the concern, love, and helplessness of a father.

He spoke softly.

"Wang... are you okay?"

Wang looked at his father. His body was still trembling slightly. He kept one hand against his chest, where the Wind Sword had struck him only a short while ago.

With great difficulty, he controlled his voice and replied,

"I... I'm fine, Dad."

Obito stared at him silently for a few moments.

He knew Wang was only saying that to reassure him.

Then he gave him a faint smile.

"Come on... let's have some lunch first. You need to regain your strength."

Wang silently nodded.

Rin immediately took his hand.

The three of them left the medical room together.

A Little Later...

Everyone was sitting together in the lab kitchen for lunch.

Different dishes had been placed on the table, but the atmosphere was far from cheerful.

Wang quietly ate his meal.

Rin kept looking at him again and again, as if she still could not believe that her son was truly okay.

Obito was silent as well.

His mind kept returning to the same moment.

The moment when he had attacked Wang with the Wind Sword.

The moment the sword had struck Wang's body.

The moment his son had cried out in pain.

Obito slowly clenched his fist.

He knew this training was necessary for Wang.

But now he also understood something clearly.

His son was not yet ready to completely withstand the power he possessed.

After a while, Obito looked at Wang and said gently,

"You're going to rest completely today."

Wang looked at his father in surprise.

Obito calmly continued,

"We'll continue Training tomorrow."

Wang opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but then stopped.

He simply nodded.

"Yes, Dad."

Rin let out a relieved breath when she heard that.

But the worry hidden in Obito's expression did not escape Rin's notice.

After Lunch...

Rin took Wang to his room.

When Wang reached his bed, Rin gently placed her hand on his head.

"My son... get some rest now."

Wang lay down on the bed.

Rin carefully adjusted the blanket over him and lovingly kissed his forehead.

"Don't think too much. Try to forget what happened."

Wang spoke softly.

"Mom..."

Rin immediately answered,

"Yes, sweetheart?"

After thinking for a few moments, Wang asked,

"Is Dad angry with me?"

The question caused a sharp ache in Rin's heart.

She immediately smiled and replied,

"No, Wang. Your father isn't angry with you at all."

She paused for a moment.

"He only wants you to become stronger."

Wang closed his eyes.

"Okay, Mom..."

Rin watched him for a while before quietly leaving the room.

Rin walked toward the room she shared with Obito.

Obito was already there.

He was standing silently, looking toward the other side of the room.

His face showed deep concern.

Rin entered and closed the door behind her.

For a few moments, neither of them spoke.

Then Rin quietly asked,

"Obito..."

Obito turned toward her.

Rin walked closer and looked directly into his eyes.

"Have you thought of another way to train Wang?"

Obito remained silent for a few moments.

Then he nodded.

"Yes."

A faint glimmer of hope appeared in Rin's eyes.

"Really?"

Obito calmly replied,

"Yes. Tomorrow morning, you'll see the method yourself."

Rin was about to say something, but Obito gently moved closer to her.

"You should rest now too."

He lovingly kissed her.

Then he whispered,

"Get some rest... everything will be fine."

Rin looked at him for a few moments.

Then she stepped forward and hugged Obito tightly.

The worry in her voice was unmistakable.

"I just don't want to see our son suffer like that again..."

Obito gently rubbed her back.

"I know."

Rin rested her head against his chest.

A few moments later, she lifted her face and lovingly kissed Obito.

But by then, a decision had already formed in Obito's mind—a decision that even he did not like.

He knew Rin could never bear to see their son suffer again.

And if he told her about his new method...

She would probably never allow him to try it.

Obito slowly closed his eyes.

A battle was raging inside his heart.

On one side, he was a husband and a father.

On the other, he was the Crown Prince.

And both sides were asking him the same question.

Did Wang really have to suffer again in order to become stronger?

Obito slowly opened his eyes.

He looked at Rin.

Then, forcing himself to accept the decision, he whispered,

"Forgive me, Rin..."

Rin looked at him in surprise.

"What happened?"

Obito gave no answer.

The next moment, he placed his hand on Rin's shoulder and used a very small amount of his power.

Rin's eyes widened in shock.

"Obito... you..."

Her voice faded.

A moment later, her body went limp and collapsed into Obito's arms.

Obito immediately caught her.

There was no victory or satisfaction on his face.

Only deep regret.

He gently lifted Rin and carried her to the bed, carefully laying her down.

For several moments, he simply stood there and looked at her.

Then he gently moved her hair away from her face.

His voice was filled with pain.

"Forgive me, Rin..."

He remained silent for a moment.

"I know you can't bear to see our son suffer again."

Obito lowered his eyes.

"And perhaps you're right."

His voice became heavier.

"I should never have involved you in Wang's Training like this."

He looked at Rin.

"But I can't abandon him either."

"The power inside him... if he doesn't learn to control it, then one day that same power could become a danger to him."

Obito clenched his fist.

"I've thought of a new method."

He paused.

"Perhaps this method will prevent him from suffering the same pain as before..."

His voice suddenly stopped.

Then he whispered to himself,

"But I don't even know if it will work."

Obito kissed Rin gently on the forehead.

"And if it fails..."

He stopped.

He knew there was a risk involved.

Wang might have to endure even greater pain than before.

But Obito could no longer turn back.

He had to find a way.

He whispered,

"Now, go to sleep..."

After a brief silence, he continued,

"Until our son completes his Training, I'll keep you away from all of this."

He straightened up.

He looked at Rin one last time.

"Forgive me, Rin."

Obito turned around and walked out of the room.

The door slowly closed behind him.

Obito stood silently in the hallway for a few moments.

He closed his eyes.

He regretted knocking his own wife unconscious.

But there was another feeling inside him that was even stronger.

His determination to protect his son.

Obito slowly opened his eyes.

His gaze turned toward Wang's room.

Then he began walking.

One step...

Two...

Three...

With every step, the same thought echoed through his mind.

"I don't want to put my son through that pain again..."

He stopped.

He closed his eyes.

Then he whispered,

"But if this pain can keep him alive in the future..."

He looked toward Wang's door.

"...then as a father, I have to make this decision."

Obito reached for the door handle.

But before he could open it, he heard Wang's faint voice from inside.

"Dad...?"

Obito's hand froze.

Moisture filled his eyes.

Wang was probably still awake.

Obito slowly opened the door.

Wang was lying on the bed, looking at him.

"Dad... where were you going?"

Obito stared at his son for a few moments.

Then he forced a gentle smile onto his face.

"Nowhere, son."

He walked over and sat beside Wang.

Wang innocently asked,

"We're training tomorrow, right?"

The question struck Obito's heart like a blow.

He placed his hand gently on his son's head.

"Yes..."

His voice was very quiet.

"Training will continue tomorrow."

Wang closed his eyes.

"I'm ready, Dad."

Obito looked at his son.

At that moment, he felt as though he was not leading his son toward power...

but toward a path from which returning might not be easy.

He made a silent vow.

"No matter what I have to do... I won't let you remain weak."

But even Obito did not know whether the next day's Training would awaken Wang's true power...

or plunge his body into unimaginable pain once again.

And this was the decision...

that would change the lives of a father and his son forever.
