He just sat there, his gaze never leaving hers, not even when his breakfast was placed in front of him.
She only averted her gaze when she turned to thank the servant that had served her meal.
Then she stole a quick glance at him before picking up her fork.
Why was she so quiet?
She picked up a cherry on her fork but it slipped out. Her hands were anything but stable…
After two more failed attempts, she set the fork down and glanced in his direction.
"Would you stop looking at me? I'm trying to eat my meal in peace, Sir Theodore."
So she was back to calling him Sir Theodore? How odd to be establishing formality with him after having slept on his bed, he mused.
"Do you have my reply? I haven't forgotten about it, Lady Whitmore."
She stilled, then slowly met his gaze, her cheeks regaining some of its colour as she warmed.
"I thought you had no need for it."
"And did I say that to you?"
