All she could do was stare down at the man helplessly.
Despite her growing fear of being caught by him, she had come to care for him a great deal.
After all, he was Theodore's father.
But did that really mean she wanted to stay any longer. Yet the way he asked had reached somewhere deep, somewhere she could no longer ignore.
When she glanced at Theodore, his gaze was fixed on his father.
The old man seemed to have fallen unconscious again because his hand on hers suddenly grew limp.
As if summoned, the doctor returned to the room.
"Forgive me, but your visiting time has come to an end. I will let you know when next you are allowed to see him."
Eve moved towards the door slowly, waiting for Theodore to get up from the seat and leave as well.
When they were both outside, he closed the door.
"Are you still leaving?"
She shook her head, glancing around the empty hallway.
