Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: Shortcut

One week later.

New York City, a World-class city with a total area of 1,200 square kilometers and a population of about 8.6 million, directly influences global economy, finance, media, politics, and many other fields.

Standing on the top floor of Osborn Tower overlooking this city always brought Harry endless satisfaction.

This city would fully go online with ctOS in two hours.

Harry couldn't wait to have it in the palm of his hand.

"Boss, everything is normal. ctOS is ready to go online at any time." Bone's call came through.

The Water supply systems, power substations, drawbridges, traffic lights, various public valves, and cameras in every area were all connected to the network. Just waiting for Harry's order, these things would all complete their networking and transmit data to the ctOS server.

After being processed by Bone's algorithm, this data would plan every process of the city's operation, increasing operational efficiency to a terrifying level.

"Then start it."

A massive stream of data surged toward the server. Electricity, vehicles, pedestrians—the entire city experienced a momentary pause as ctOS recalculated their routes.

The streets began to flow again. Those looking at their phones were still looking at them; people talking were still talking. No one noticed this imperceptible pause.

They only saw the traffic lights flash. They only felt that they were still walking on their own paths. What they didn't know was that everyone's route had been planned, and now everyone was walking on a shortcut.

A shortcut planned for them by Osborn.

"Everything is normal, ctOS is working properly, and data is being exchanged normally. We did it!" Bone's voice was quite excited. The data processing capability was much stronger than before, and New York was a much bigger stage than Chicago!

At the very moment of activation, Harry noticed that the program left by HYDRA in the server was trying to transmit data.

But they could only get the information Harry was willing to give them. Lening easily filtered out all sensitive information and put HYDRA in "parental control mode." It was unclear when they would realize something was wrong.

From now on, no one could access the New York ctOS network without Osborn's permission.

"Aiden, ctOS is online. Keep an eye on those Agents. Your mission is to guard the underground Base. Permissions have been granted to you."

"Received."

"By the way, if you find any surveillance equipment of unknown origin, feel free to dismantle them—oh my, there are so many." Harry sighed at the end.

With Aiden in this role, Harry was one hundred percent at ease.

Back in Chicago, Aiden had become a legend there just by exploiting loopholes in ctOS. Now, he had become a proper "Watch Dog" of New York.

Aiden was undoubtedly the first choice for handling confidentiality work.

"Frank, how have you been lately?" Harry called Frank again.

"Not bad. Dr. Connors says their brain activity is becoming more and more active. Any new missions?"

"Just asking, how is the recruit training going?"

"Not bad, they can all adapt to aerial combat now. But Boss, when are we updating our weapons?"

Harry indicated that the weapon issue was not urgent.

Right now, they were equipped with a standard dart that could create an electrical explosion, called an Arc Star. Besides that, they were just equipped with some conventional weapons.

Harry had been wondering recently whether to convert the Flyer into a drone. After all, using this thing for combat was still too difficult for ordinary humans to master.

It was just that after Norman got the Glider back, he had managed to come up with some classic weapons, such as Pumpkin Bombs and the like.

Harry lay back in his chair, wanting to continue enjoying this feeling of knowing everything for a little while longer.

However, now was not the time to enjoy it; he needed to use ctOS to find someone.

The "Mr. Blue" who had been collaborating with Dr. Banner—Samuel Stern.

At this point in time, he should have already stockpiled enough Hulk serum. It was time to harvest it.

At this moment, Norman suddenly called: "Harry, General Ross is in New York. Remember the mechanical soldier plan you prepared? I plan to find a time to talk to him about it."

Harry was stunned. Wasn't General Ross's operation this time supposed to be a secret mission? Why did he greet Norman?

Since when did the Military and S.H.I.E.L.D. learn to report and apply before taking action on secret operations?

Sure enough, through the feedback from ctOS, General Ross had already toured the Harlem District and had now captured Dr. Banner in the Harlem District.

The big battle would start in a few minutes. It was time for ctOS to show its stuff.

"Alright, Father. I will start evacuating the crowd immediately. We must seal off the Harlem District."

"Are you sure? He said this was just a routine capture mission?"

Banner was being escorted onto a plane, and Bronski should already be anxiously demanding that Dr. Stern inject him with the Gamma serum.

"I'm sure, Father. I also saw their tanks and armed helicopters. It would be hell if this were a routine capture mission."

After finishing the call with Norman, Harry immediately called Peter. This incident would be a good chance for him to practice.

"Peter? Do you have time now? I need you to come over here. The address has been sent to your phone."

"Of course. Is it about the internship?"

Harry replied while putting on his combat suit: "Something like that. Remember to put on your 'pajamas'."

Hearing that he needed to wear his "pajamas," Peter paused for a moment, then jumped off the bed excitedly and did a backflip on the spot.

Harry thought while listening to the noise on the other end of the line: Young people need to vent their energy. This shouldn't count as child labor, right?

After all, he wasn't paying him a salary; at most, he could be considered a volunteer.

After putting on his combat suit and stepping onto the Flyer, Harry rushed to his underground facility to make some preparations.

Dr. Stern couldn't be saved, and this doctor wasn't exactly a serious researcher either; Harry wasn't too comfortable using him.

But the Hulk serum and research data in his laboratory had to be obtained.

Besides these things, Harry had one more goal: the mutated Bronski, also known as the Abomination.

In the original story, this guy was imprisoned by General Ross and hyped up as a war hero.

But now New York was under Norman's management. Want to be a war hero? Dream on!

He wanted to implant a neural implant into the Abomination that could control his actions, turning him into an "electronic zombie."

If this idea was feasible, Osborn might even have a monster army in the future.

The data General Ross gave Harry was mostly inaccurate, but Harry could use this data to complete a rough design first.

Then, he would have Peter go to the scene and use the conductive rod to guide Lening to perform a full-body scan on the Abomination. This way, Harry could get the most accurate and detailed data, and then make modifications and adjustments on the spot to create a suitable neural implant.

It seemed that Peter was the only one who could handle the on-site scanning for now; even Frank couldn't do it.

"Aiden, someone in red pajamas will be coming in shortly. Make way for him."

Having said that, Harry walked toward his laboratory.
