Chapter 25 - The Truth Behind the Doors

Without wasting another second, Leo rushed to his car and drove in the direction his father had taken. His mind was filled with questions, each one heavier than the last.

After a long drive, he finally stopped in front of a tall, imposing building. It was massive, with glass walls reflecting the sky—clearly a powerful company.

Leo stepped out of the car and looked up.

So this is where father went…

He walked inside.

The lobby was grand and filled with people moving quickly, busy with their work. Leo's eyes scanned the area as he searched for any sign of Mr. Miles, but he couldn't find him anywhere.

Not wanting to waste time, he walked up to the reception desk.

"Excuse me," Leo said. "Did Mr. Miles come here?"

The receptionist looked at him politely.

"Sir, may I know your name?"

"My name is Leo," he replied quickly. "Mr. Miles… he's my—" he paused for a second, then corrected himself, "—my uncle."

The receptionist nodded and checked her system.

"Yes, sir. Mr. Miles is here," she said.

Leo leaned forward slightly.

"Where is he? Who is he meeting?"

"He's here to meet Mr. Seth," she replied calmly.

Leo froze.

For a moment, it felt like time had stopped.

So it's true…

His voice lowered.

"What is Seth doing here?"

The receptionist smiled lightly.

"Sir, this is his father's company."

Leo's eyes widened just a little, but he quickly hid his reaction.

So Seth… isn't just anyone. He's part of something much bigger…

"I see…" Leo said slowly. "Can you tell me where they are? I'm here to meet Mr. Miles."

Before the receptionist could respond, she suddenly looked past Leo and said,

"Sir… they're coming this way."

Leo turned around.

And there they were.

Mr. Miles was walking alongside Seth—and another man, older, well-dressed, with an aura of authority. It didn't take much to guess who he was.

Seth's father…

Leo stepped back slightly, staying out of their direct sight.

He watched as Mr. Miles stopped and shook hands with both of them. The conversation looked serious, but controlled—like a business deal rather than a conflict.

That confused Leo even more.

Why would father… meet them like this?

After a few moments, the conversation ended. Mr. Miles turned and walked away, his face unreadable.

Leo instinctively wanted to go to him—but something held him back.

Instead, his eyes shifted to Seth.

Seth was about to leave when suddenly, his gaze stopped.

He had seen Leo.

For a brief second, the two of them locked eyes across the lobby.

Then Seth said something to his father and excused himself before walking straight toward Leo.

Each step he took felt deliberate… confident.

Leo didn't move.

Soon, Seth stood right in front of him.

A small smirk appeared on his face.

"Well, well… if it isn't Leo," Seth said casually. "How have you been? It's been a long time since I last saw you."

Leo didn't respond immediately. His eyes were fixed on Seth, filled with anger and suspicion.

Seth noticed—and his smirk only grew wider.

"Still the same, I see," Seth added.

Leo finally spoke, his voice cold.

"What are you doing here?"

Seth let out a quiet chuckle.

"You really don't know?" he said. "This place… this entire company… belongs to my father."

Leo's fists clenched slightly.

"I figured that much," Leo replied sharply.

Seth tilted his head, studying Leo's expression.

"But I'm more curious about something else," Seth continued. "Why are you here?"

Leo stepped closer, his voice firm.

"I came to meet my father."

At that, Seth's eyes flickered with interest.

"Ah… Mr. Miles," he said slowly. "So you followed him here."

Leo didn't deny it.

For a moment, silence hung between them.

Then Seth turned slightly and gestured toward the hallway.

"Come with me," he said. "Let's not talk about this out here."

Leo narrowed his eyes.

"And why should I?"

Seth looked back at him, his expression calm—but his tone carried something deeper.

"Because," he said, "I think it's time you learned the truth."

Those words hit Leo hard.

After a brief pause, Leo made his decision.

"…Fine."

Seth smirked again and began walking toward his office.

Leo followed him, his mind racing.

Whatever he's about to say…

I need to hear it.

As the office door closed behind them, the atmosphere grew heavy.

Something was about to change.
