Chapter 46 - Chapter 46 – A Date Above Destruction

The female reporter froze for a split second, her body reacting before her mind could catch up. Slowly, almost mechanically, she turned around—and what she saw drained every bit of color from her face.

A massive green hand was pushing its way out of the crater beside her.

Her breath hitched, and she stumbled backward in pure instinct, nearly tripping over herself as she tried to put distance between them. Somehow, despite the fear gripping her entire body, she still clutched her microphone tightly, her professional instincts refusing to shut down.

"My God! Another—another green monster has appeared on the scene!" she shouted, her voice trembling as she continued broadcasting while retreating.

From within the crater, the Hulk rose to his full height, his massive form radiating raw, untamed power. Hearing her voice, he turned his head slightly and glanced in her direction.

That single look was enough.

The reporter's legs gave out instantly, and she collapsed onto the ground, completely overwhelmed. Fear hit her like a tidal wave, stripping away any remaining composure. In front of something like that, she wasn't a reporter—she was just a fragile human being with no way to defend herself.

Fortunately, Hulk didn't linger on her.

After that brief glance, he turned away, his attention locking onto a far greater threat. With a roar, he charged straight toward Abomination.

"God… I'm still alive…" the reporter whispered shakily, her voice barely audible as she sat there, dazed. Her hands trembled uncontrollably as she tried to steady herself, her mind still struggling to process how close she had just come to death.

At that moment, she made a silent vow.

No more frontline reporting.

Not like this.

High above the chaos, Polaris stood on the rooftop, her brows tightly furrowed as she watched the destruction unfold below. Cars were being hurled like scrap, buildings crumbling under brute force, and the entire street had turned into a battlefield.

"Wes… aren't we going to stop this?" she asked, her tone serious.

Levis shook his head, his expression relaxed as if he were watching a show rather than a disaster. "No need. Someone's already here to handle it."

He tilted his chin slightly, indicating the street below.

Polaris followed his gaze, her eyes widening as she saw the massive green figure rushing toward Abomination. Compared to the yellow-skinned giant, this one was slightly smaller, but no less imposing.

"Another monster?" she said in disbelief.

Levis chuckled. "That one's the real deal. The other one? Just a knockoff."

Polaris blinked, clearly not following. "But… the yellow one looks stronger."

Levis shrugged. "Usually, knockoffs can't beat the original. But right now? It's not that simple."

He narrowed his eyes slightly, analyzing the situation.

Abomination had the advantage in raw strength and stability at the moment. Hulk, on the other hand, was a variable—his power grew with his anger. The longer the fight went on, the stronger he would become.

But there was a problem.

Not long ago, Banner had been injected with a serum designed to suppress Hulk. That meant his current strength was far from his peak.

Which made this fight… unpredictable.

"ROAR!"

Abomination spotted Hulk instantly.

Without hesitation, it abandoned the soldiers it had been slaughtering and charged forward, each step cracking the pavement beneath its feet. Hulk didn't slow down either.

The two giants collided head-on.

The impact alone sent a shockwave through the street, debris flying in all directions. They didn't hold back—fists, kicks, grapples—every movement carried devastating force.

It wasn't just a fight.

It was destruction.

The ground shook continuously as the two clashed, their roars echoing between the buildings. It was as if they were trying to tear each other apart, driven by pure instinct and overwhelming aggression.

At first, Abomination held the upper hand.

With its larger frame and more stable strength, it overpowered Hulk in direct exchanges. A heavy blow sent Hulk flying backward, smashing through part of a building before crashing into the street.

Polaris inhaled sharply at the sight.

Everywhere they went, destruction followed. Cars crumpled like paper, walls shattered, and entire sections of the street were reduced to rubble.

It was like watching two living weapons tear the city apart.

Not far from the battlefield, in a concealed corner, Phil Coulson stood alongside Melinda May. Both of them were watching the fight unfold, their expressions grim.

"What do we do now?" May asked, her voice low but tense.

Coulson exhaled slowly, his usual calm demeanor strained for once. "There's not much we can do. We report it. That's it."

They had originally been tasked with retrieving General Ross's research data. But now, everything had spiraled completely out of control.

The situation had escalated beyond anything they could handle.

All they could do now was inform headquarters.

Inside S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury sat in his office, his gaze fixed on the live satellite feed. The two giants tearing through New York filled the screen, their battle leaving a trail of destruction behind them.

And yet—

Fury didn't move.

He had no intention of intervening.

"This is Ross's mess," he muttered under his breath. "He can deal with it."

Even if he wanted to step in, there wasn't much S.H.I.E.L.D. could do. Agents weren't equipped to handle monsters like that, and sending them in would only result in unnecessary casualties.

Still, as he watched the chaos unfold, a thought solidified in his mind.

He needed something more.

A team.

A group capable of dealing with threats like this.

As that idea took shape, something on the screen caught his attention.

Fury leaned forward slightly, narrowing his eye.

"Wait… what's that?"

He quickly zoomed in on a section of the feed.

Two figures stood on a rooftop overlooking the battlefield—a man and a woman, watching the fight from above. The image was blurry, but their silhouettes were clear enough.

Fury picked up his phone immediately.

"Coulson."

On the other end, Coulson answered quickly. "Director?"

"There are two individuals on top of Building 38, across from your position. Can you identify them?"

Coulson glanced up, then immediately started moving. "Give me a second. I need a better angle."

He took off at a run, heading for the nearest building. Ignoring the burn in his lungs, he pushed himself up the stairs, climbing thirty floors in one continuous sprint.

By the time he reached the rooftop, his breathing was slightly uneven, but he didn't stop.

He stepped forward and looked across the street.

And there they were.

"I've got them," Coulson said into the phone, his tone steady again. "It's the kid I mentioned before… and Polaris. Magneto's daughter."

On the other end, Fury's expression darkened slightly.

"So it's him…"

His gaze returned to the screen, focusing on the two figures standing calmly above the chaos.

"Coulson," Fury said after a brief pause, "what do you think they're doing up there?"

Coulson watched them for another second, then shrugged lightly.

"…Honestly? Looks like they're on a date."

Fury didn't argue.
