Small boats which could carry four to six passengers each moved across Lake General Carrera in a loose formation. The water was so still in the morning that the mountains reflected in it in a way that made the surface look like a second sky.
Then the caves appeared.
Zi Han saw them before the boat reached them. They were marble formations rising from the water in smooth, flowing curves, the stone worn into shapes that had no straight lines, nothing angular. From a distance they were impressive. As the boat glided closer and then through, into the first cavern, impressive became an understatement.
