Chapter 67 - The Rule They Must Break

Mira stared at his last message for a long time.

"We have to."

The words felt strong.

Certain.

But also dangerous.

Because changing something like this—

Something that had already happened…

Again and again…

Wasn't simple.

Her fingers tightened around her phone.

"What are we even trying to change…" she whispered.

The answer came quietly inside her mind.

The ending.

The memory.

The room.

The silence.

His voice saying—

"I can't."

Her chest tightened again.

"No…" she whispered.

"This time… that won't happen."

Her phone buzzed.

"Mira."

"Yes?"

"I've been thinking."

She sat up slightly.

"What?"

There was a pause.

Then—

"What if there's a reason we keep repeating this?"

Her brows furrowed.

"A reason?"

"Yes."

Another message followed.

"What if something is forcing us to follow the same path every time?"

Mira's heartbeat slowed.

Because that made sense.

Too much sense.

The same meeting.

The same feelings.

The same memories.

And the same ending.

Her fingers moved slowly.

"Like a rule?"

The reply came instantly.

"Yes."

Mira stared at the word.

Rule.

If there was a rule—

Then that meant something was controlling this.

Guiding it.

Or limiting it.

Her voice came out softly.

"Then we just have to break it…" she whispered.

Her fingers typed it.

"Then we break the rule."

The typing dots appeared.

Then—

"But we don't know what the rule is."

Mira fell silent.

That was the problem.

They didn't know what they were fighting.

Or how it worked.

Her eyes slowly moved to the notebook again.

The drawing.

The note.

"Maybe we meet here one day."

Something about it felt important now.

Like it wasn't just a wish.

Like it was part of the pattern.

"Mira," he messaged again.

"Yes?"

"Think about it."

A pause.

Then—

"What happens every time we meet?"

Mira closed her eyes.

Thinking.

The café.

The rooftop.

The dreams.

They meet.

They feel connected.

They remember.

Then—

Her breath caught.

"They separate…" she whispered.

Her fingers typed it quickly.

"We separate."

The reply came.

"Exactly."

Her chest tightened.

"Every time…" she murmured.

Then another thought hit her.

Hard.

Her fingers moved again.

"And one of us forgets."

There was a pause.

Then—

"Yes."

Silence.

Heavy.

Because now—

They were seeing the pattern clearly.

Meet.

Connect.

Remember.

Separate.

Forget.

Repeat.

Mira's heart started racing again.

"So that's the rule…" she whispered.

Her fingers typed it.

"We're not allowed to stay together."

The reply didn't come immediately.

But when it did—

It felt heavier than anything before.

"I think you're right."

Mira's breath became uneven.

Because if that was true—

Then their ending wasn't random.

It was forced.

Designed.

Her hands trembled.

"Then how do we break that…" she whispered.

Her phone buzzed again.

"We don't separate."

She froze.

Her heart skipped.

Because the answer was simple.

Too simple.

But also—

The hardest thing to do.

Her fingers moved slowly.

"What if something forces us to?"

A pause.

Then—

"Then we fight it."

Mira closed her eyes.

Fight it.

Against something they couldn't see.

Couldn't understand.

Couldn't even prove.

But still—

Her heart agreed.

Because she had seen the ending.

And she didn't want to live it again.

Her voice came out softly.

"I don't want to lose you…"

She didn't type it.

But her fingers hesitated over the screen.

Then—

Slowly—

She did.

"I don't want to lose you."

The message sent.

And for the first time—

She felt nervous.

Truly nervous.

The reply came after a few seconds.

"You won't."

Her heart tightened.

Then another message appeared.

"Not this time."

Mira let out a soft breath.

Because for the first time—

There was determination in his words.

Not confusion.

Not fear.

But certainty.

Her fingers moved again.

"Then we need to find the exact moment everything breaks."

The typing dots appeared.

Then—

"The moment we separate."

She nodded slightly.

"Yes…"

Because if they could find that moment—

They could change it.

Stop it.

Rewrite it.

Her phone buzzed again.

"Mira."

"Yes?"

A pause.

Then—

"What if we already saw it?"

Her breath caught.

The room.

The conversation.

His silence.

Her question.

"Will you stay?"

Her heart started racing again.

"That was it…" she whispered.

Her fingers typed quickly.

"That was the moment."

The reply came.

"Then we change that moment."

Mira looked up at the ceiling.

Her eyes filled slightly.

Because now—

Everything was clear.

Not easy.

But clear.

They weren't just remembering anymore.

They had a goal.

A point in time.

A moment they had to rewrite.

Her voice was soft.

But strong.

"Then this time… you won't say no."

She typed it.

"This time… you won't say you can't."

There was a pause.

A long one.

Then finally—

His reply came.

"This time… I won't."

Mira closed her eyes.

Her heart finally feeling something new.

Hope.

Because for the first time—

They weren't following the story.

They were trying to change it.
