Anisha had immersed herself in the book when a knock came.
She jolted and flung the book aside.
No, that wouldn't do, her legs moved, and she slid it under the bed.
Her heart drummed. She didn't know why it felt like she was doing a really bad thing.
Jasmine came in.
Anisha had to force herself to relax since the book was clearly not in sight.
"Don't know what it is with you always cooping up in this room," Jasmine approached.
A piercing gaze shot through Anisha, which made Jasmine laugh subtly.
"Why did you knock this time? Who suddenly taught you manners?" Anisha retorted.
"What are you doing?" Jasmine asked instead.
Anisha's pulse quickened once again at her question. She glanced at the spot she had been reading, but the book was not in sight.
She frowned. "What do you mean?"
"You're the one stopping Nhel from accepting the proposal, right? Why are you selfish?" Jasmine inquired, her expression filled with disdain.
