The First Noble Coalition
News travels faster than armies.
Within a week of Thornvale's fall, three neighboring barons gathered in secret at Blackmoor Hall.
Baron Cedric of Blackmoor slammed his fist on the oak table.
"He has doubled his territory in less than a month."
"He executes officials publicly."
"He marches without summons."
Baron Tristan of Redvale leaned back uneasily.
"He claims stabilization authority."
"He claims bandit suppression."
Cedric scoffed.
"Do not be naïve. This is conquest."
The third noble, older and quieter — Baron Aldren of Frosthill — finally spoke.
"If we do nothing, we are next."
Silence followed.
Back in Greywatch Keep, Sidharth stood over a large wooden map table.
Markers had been placed carefully.
Greywatch.
Thornvale.
Southern trade road.
Supply lines.
His captain of the guard, Roland, spoke cautiously.
"My lord… scouts report gatherings at Blackmoor."
Sidharth did not look up.
"How many?"
"Three banners confirmed."
Sidharth smiled faintly.
"They are afraid."
Roland hesitated.
"With respect… three baronies combined could field six hundred men."
Sidharth finally looked at him.
"And how many do we field?"
Roland swallowed.
"Over a thousand."
"Then they are already defeated," Sidharth replied calmly.
A system panel flickered.
[Daily Login – Day 6]
Reward: 400 Infantry (Tier II)
Bonus: 100 Crossbowmen
Roland froze as fresh formations began assembling beyond the courtyard walls.
"My lord… our numbers…"
"Fear multiplies enemies," Sidharth said quietly.
"Overwhelming force erases them."
Two days later, the coalition army marched toward Thornvale.
They expected to intimidate.
They expected negotiation.
They did not expect Goldenheart to march first.
Instead of waiting behind walls, Sidharth moved his entire force forward.
Open field.
Clear visibility.
Psychological dominance.
Across the plains, the three coalition banners fluttered.
Cedric squinted at the opposing army.
"That… that is not a thousand men."
Aldren's voice was tight.
"How does an exiled baron field this many soldiers?"
Tristan whispered,
"What if the capital secretly backs him?"
Before panic could settle, Goldenheart's war drums began.
Deep.
Steady.
Unhurried.
Sidharth rode to the front line.
His voice carried across the wind.
"You stand against regional stability."
"You gather arms without imperial decree."
"You conspire."
Cedric shouted back,
"You have no authority to judge us!"
Sidharth raised one hand.
Crossbow lines stepped forward in perfect unison.
"Authority," he said calmly,
"belongs to whoever holds power."
The order was given.
Bolts darkened the sky.
The coalition line shattered before melee even began.
Panic spread.
Horses broke formation.
Infantry faltered.
Goldenheart's heavy infantry advanced like a moving wall of iron.
Within an hour, Blackmoor's banner fell.
By sunset, two barons were captured.
The third fled.
Cedric was dragged before Sidharth, dirt and blood covering his face.
"You will destabilize the entire Westonia Empire," Cedric growled.
Sidharth dismounted slowly.
"No."
"I will stabilize it."
He turned to his officers.
"Blackmoor and Redvale are annexed."
"Frosthill will be pursued."
Roland stepped closer.
"My lord… should we show mercy? To avoid further alliances?"
Sidharth's eyes were cold.
"Mercy invites repetition."
He addressed the captured nobles.
"You will live."
"But your heirs will be raised under my authority."
"Your lands will answer to Goldenheart."
Fear did what swords alone could not.

That night, Roland spoke quietly in the war tent.
"My lord… at this pace, the capital will notice."
Sidharth stared at the map.
"They already have."
Far away, in the capital of the Westonia Empire, whispers were growing louder.
An exiled prince was no longer surviving.
He was expanding.
And expansion…
would soon invite imperial response.
