Claire's POV
I don't bother questioning him further. Even though we had slept together, we weren't that close and I would be foolish to assume I had any hold on him, or that whatever happened between us meant more than it actually did.
We were yet to talk about that night and I'm more than happy to keep it that way. Maybe if we don't acknowledge it, it won't feel real or consequential. Maybe it stays exactly where it belongs—in the past, untouched and undefined. That way, there are no expectations, no complications, no need to confront whatever it could have meant.
There was no work today, as Louis had stated, and now I found myself wondering what else there was to do with all this unexpected stillness.
"Since you've cancelled work for today," I quipped, "do you have anything else in mind?"
His gaze returns to normal, or at least something close to it. "Let's just stay home and relax. It has been a packed few days."
