"Mmhmm?" Jenna nearly choked. "That's your response?"


The black speck of Formless above his palm stretched into the shape of a tiny bird before dissolving again.


"You killed a gifted person during the process of awakening."


Jenna stared at him in utter disbelief.


"And?" she repeated. "Interrupting a person undergoing awakening is one of the fastest ways to create a catastrophe!" she yelled. "Not only have you corrupted that person's abilities, you've created a mortal enemy for yourself. That person is going to haunt you down!" 


There was a deafening silence after Jenna's outburst.


The last traces of Formless took the shape of a skinwalker before dissolving and slithering back into De Warden's palm.


Streetlights slid across his face. For a long moment, he said nothing.
