Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The Shattered Silence

Chapter 27: The Shattered Silence

The silver door didn't just open; it ceased to be a barrier. Lin Wei didn't use a flashy explosion that would alert the high-altitude Spirit Severing observers. Instead, he utilized the Absolute Equilibrium to create a thermal shock so violent that the Spirit-Reflecting Silver grew brittle as thin glass. With a single, muffled punch backed by the weight of his jade-recast bones, the center of the door vanished into a cloud of metallic dust.

Outside, the two Mid-Stage Foundation Establishment guards had less than a second to react. Their linked auras flared, a golden barrier of suppression energy shimmering into existence.

Lin Wei stepped through the dust. He didn't reach for the Void. He remembered the warning—the Void would consume his soul. He needed the raw, primal force of his heritage.

He moved like a flicker of lightning. His left hand, wreathed in Absolute Ice, caught the throat of the first guard. The man's golden barrier didn't shatter; it simply froze in time, the spiritual energy turning into jagged, immobile crystals. With his right hand, Lin Wei pressed a palm against the second guard's chest. A concentrated burst of Phoenix Fire—not a flame, but a needle of white-hot pressure—pierced through the guard's armor and shut down his central meridian in a heartbeat.

The two guards slumped to the floor, not dead, but their spirits temporarily severed from their bodies.

[Integrating Fragment of the First Key...]

The integration wasn't like the recasting of his bones. It was a spiritual homecoming. A jagged, obsidian shard—so black it seemed to pull the torchlight from the walls—materialized in the center of his chest, sinking into the violet Seal of the Void.

The world changed. Lin Wei no longer just saw the stone walls of the tower; he saw the "veins" of the Academy. He saw the golden threads of the Siphon connecting every room, every guard, and every ward to the First Prince's heart. More importantly, he saw the Prince.

Lin Jue was currently in the lower war-room, his Golden Lion armor glowing with a restless, predatory light. He was surrounded by Inquisitors, pointing at a map of the Black Water Prison.

"The Golden Lion's arrogance is your door," his father's voice echoed in his mind.

Lin Wei closed his eyes. Through the First Key, he reached out to the Siphon. He didn't "whisper" this time. He commanded. He followed the golden thread that led directly into the Prince's armor—the link the Prince used to draw power from the city.

"You wanted the city's power, Jue," Lin Wei thought, his violet eye burning with a terrifying brilliance. "Now, you can have all of it."

He didn't sabotage the armor. He forced a "Reverse Siphon." Instead of the armor drawing power from the city, Lin Wei commanded the city to draw power from the armor.

Five floors below, a scream of pure agony tore through the war-room. First Prince Lin Jue collapsed as his own Peak Foundation essence was violently yanked out of his body by his own equipment. The Golden Lion armor, once his greatest weapon, became a vacuum, draining his life force back into the Academy's stone walls.

[Warning: Total Academy Lockdown Initiated.]

[Detection: 8-Star Observers are converging on your location.]

"Time to go," Lin Wei whispered.

He didn't head for the stairs. He headed for the window. The Fragment of the First Key allowed him to see the gaps in the tower's external wards—the "breaths" where the energy shifted. He launched himself through the glass, a violet streak against the midnight sky of the Capital.

As he fell toward the rooftops, he could feel the rage of the Empire rising behind him like a tidal wave. The Prince was incapacitated, the Siphon was in chaos, and Lin Wei was no longer just a prisoner. He was a Foundation Establishment expert with the key to the world's greatest engine in his chest.

He hit a tiled roof, rolling and coming up into a sprint. He had 50 points, a city in revolt, and four days to reach the Ironwood Pass. The hunt had officially turned. The Jailer was out of his cage, and he was taking the lock with him.
