Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: The Sovereign’s Dawns

The white light radiating from Lin Wei's chest was not the silent vacuum of the Void; it was a screaming, pressurized storm of contradictory physics. By unbinding his cores and feeding them directly into the First Key, he had bypassed the "Absolute Equilibrium" entirely. He was no longer a vessel holding two liquids; he was a star undergoing total collapse and rebirth in the same second.

The Master recoiled, his bone throne splintering under the sheer radiance. "Foolish boy! You are burning your future for a handful of dying ants!"

The Master raised his hands, and the red lightning chains tethered to Captain Feng and the guards snapped outward, weaving together to form a colossal, parasitic dragon of corrupted Qi. The beast roared, its voice a dissonant vibration that tried to liquefy Lin Wei's jade bones.

"System," Lin Wei roared internally, his vision turning into a kaleidoscope of gold and white. "If I'm going to die, I'm doing it as a Lin. Give me the reward for the Secret Achievement!"

[Eternal Odyssey System]

Secret Achievement: The Path of the Sovereign Jailer Reward: 'Authority of the First Warden' (Active Skill).

Effect: For 180 seconds, you are the Absolute Law within a 50-meter radius. All corrupted Qi is subject to 'Asset Forfeiture'.

Cost: All remaining System Points (50) and 90% of your Stamina.

"Forfeit," Lin Wei whispered.

The word didn't leave his mouth as a sound; it left as a command to reality. The red lightning dragon didn't clash with the white light—it dissolved. The corrupted Qi that had been stolen from the Lin guards was forcibly ripped away from the Master's control. Instead of dissipating, the energy was filtered through the First Key, purified by the friction of Lin Wei's dual cores, and surged back into the bodies of the fallen guards.

Captain Feng's eyes snapped open. His graying skin regained its color, and he felt a surge of Foundation Establishment energy he hadn't possessed in years.

"Wei'er?" Feng gasped, looking up at the silhouette in the center of the sun.

"Get them out of here, Feng!" Lin Wei's voice was a grinding tectonic plate. "The Pass is mine today!"

The Master screamed in fury, his red-crystal mask shattering completely to reveal a face that was nothing but a swirling vortex of shadow. "You think a temporary 'Authority' can stop the inevitable? I am the Shadow that has waited a thousand years!"

The Master lunged, his entire form becoming a spear of concentrated corruption. He didn't aim for Lin Wei's heart; he aimed for the First Key.

Lin Wei didn't dodge. He stood his ground, his hands coming up to catch the spear of shadow. The moment of contact sent a shockwave through the valley that leveled the ironwood trees for miles. The white light and the shadow clashed, creating a dome of gray stasis around the two combatants.

Inside the dome, time seemed to stretch. Lin Wei could feel the Master's malice—a cold, oily consciousness trying to find a crack in his resolve. But Lin Wei wasn't looking for a crack. He was looking for the Master's origin.

Through the First Key, he saw it. The Master wasn't just a cultist; he was a fragment of the very thing the Lin Clan had been guarding in the North for generations. He was a leak from the Rift, a "Prisoner" who had escaped the bars by wearing a human soul like a coat.

"You're not a Master," Lin Wei gritted out, his fingers sinking into the shadow-spear, freezing it with ice and burning it with phoenix fire simultaneously. "You're just a stray dog that got out of its kennel."

With a final, soul-tearing effort, Lin Wei didn't push the shadow away. He pulled it in. He used the Authority of the First Warden to treat the Master as a runaway inmate.

"The jail is open," Lin Wei roared. "AND YOU'RE GOING BACK!"

He slammed his forehead against the Master's shadow-face. The First Key pulsed one final time, a violet-white flare that acted as a vacuum. The Master was yanked into the Key, his psychic screams echoing in the valley before being silenced by the Absolute Equilibrium.

The dome shattered. The red lightning vanished. The Shadow-Veil over the Ironwood Pass dissolved into harmless mist.

Lin Wei fell to his knees in the center of the road. His black-and-violet silks were charred tatters, and his skin was covered in a network of fine, glowing cracks. The 300 points were gone. The Authority was gone. Even the white light had faded, leaving only the dull, steady violet glow of the Seal of the Void.

[Quest Update: The Ironwood Breach — SUCCESS.]

[Reward: 2,000 System Points (S-Rank Completion).]

[Status: Foundation Establishment - Mid-Stage (Breakthrough via Combat).]

[Warning: Physical Body in 'Critical Exhaustion'. Suggestion: Sleep.]

Captain Feng and the guards rushed forward, but Lin Wei was already toppling over. He didn't feel the cold stone of the road. He only felt a strange, quiet peace. For the first time since the North had fallen, the Siphon was quiet. The Empire was behind him, the Master was imprisoned in his chest, and the North... the North was finally in sight.

"He's alive," he heard Feng whisper, a hand resting on his shoulder. "The brat actually did it. He fought the sun and won."

As Lin Wei's consciousness drifted into the black, the System gave one final, cryptic notification:

[System Shop: New Tier Unlocked — 'Sovereign Warden'.]

[Current Balance: 2,000 Points.]

[Next Objective: Reclaim the Northern Throne.]

The 1-star loser was gone. The Jailer of the North had returned, and he was bringing the keys to a new world.
