Laurent backstepped but it was too late, Viktor had already grabbed his arm.
With a smile Viktor yanked his arm hard and it came off with a crisp sound.
Laurent let out a sharp but muffled cry of pain, and tried to make some distance.
Just then James rushed over with a manic expression and launched an attack on Viktor. It was all for naught.
Viktor tanked the first hit that landed on his arms, and then dodged to the side.
James watched Viktor's slippery figure flash out of his line of sight and appear beside him.
Before he could react a strong fist made contact with the side of his face.
James was once again airborne, this time flying towards Victoria.
Viktor kicked Laurent's arm towards him and sneered.
"Get your two idiotic teammates out of here… next time I see you near here, I will kill you."
With that said he turned and left. He didn't want to see their ugly faces anymore.
He was done.
Laurent breathed a sigh of relief and picked up his arm.
To be honest it only hurt, it would be fine as long as he was allowed to reattach it.
He walked over towards the direction of Victoria and James.
There he found Victoria sitting and holding James. Confused, Laurent took a closer look and saw that James's face was cracked.
It seems that the punch caused some damage.
"Lift him up. We need to get out of here before that guy comes back…" Laurent said to Victoria.
She nodded and reached out to carry James.
Then they headed in the opposite direction of the way they were previously intending to go.
Viktor stepped inside and found Silas.
He straightened up.
"Master… it's handled."
Silas looked at him and nodded.
"Good work."
Viktor nodded back and headed upstairs.
Silas stood there for a moment. He had already seen everything through his divine sense.
He had extended it outward when he first felt them approaching.
What he saw was… mildly impressive.
Viktor moved fast. Really fast.
The way he put James through that tree without breaking his stride… not bad.
He hadn't seen Viktor fight seriously before. It was good to know.
But what was more interesting were the three vampires themselves.
James, Laurent and Victoria.
He remembered them from the movies.
James was a tracker. Obsessive. The type who made hunting his whole personality.
Laurent was reasonable, relatively speaking. And Victoria…
Her instincts had noticed Viktor as dangerous before he arrived.
Cool and useful ability.
Silas exhaled.
So the plot was starting to move.
Honestly… it had been easy to forget. School, Alice, Emmett, Esme's food.
It had just become life.
But here it was.
James would find his new toy soon… Bella.
And after that things would pick up whether he wanted them to or not.
Silas looked out the window towards the treeline.
Well.
He had watched this story play out on a screen before.
Now he had a front row seat. Might as well enjoy it.
The weekend passed in what felt like a flash.
On Sunday he did his nightly routine and went to bed.

Waking up the next morning Silas groggily made his way to the bathroom and stepped into the shower.
When he stepped out he was fully awake, morning showers are the best when you're sleepy.
He dried off and walked to the closet.
Thanks to Alice's sorting system it took him about thirty seconds to put something together.
He pulled out a pair of dark wash jeans, a black long sleeve, and a clean white overshirt left unbuttoned. Then his usual shoes.
He looked in the mirror for a second.
Yeah. Alice really knows how to style, or maybe I'm just that handsome?
He headed downstairs and threw together a sandwich.
He sat down at the kitchen island and ate it quietly.
It was a calm morning. Grey light coming through the windows like usual. No noise except the occasional bird outside.
He liked mornings like this.
When he was done he put the plate in the sink and rinsed it off.
Then he grabbed his keys and phone off the kitchen island and walked out.
His BMW stood in the driveway.
He walked over and got in the driver's seat, started the engine, and sat there for a second while it warmed up. He also had to find a good station on the radio.
Then he drove off and headed towards the Cullens.
A few minutes later he turned onto their road.
Before he parked, he turned the car around out of habit, then sent Alice a text.
A moment later the front door opened and she stepped out.
Silas smiled slightly as he watched her walk over.
He hadn't seen her for nearly two days… although he was hesitant to admit it, he missed her.
She got in the passenger seat and leaned over, putting a kiss on Silas's lips.
"Good morning." She said with a smile.
Silas smiled back.
"Good morning."
"Are you ready for the new week?" Silas asked.
Alice nodded.
"I am… also is Kate coming to school today? Are we picking her up?"
Silas put the car in drive.
"Yeah. She's recovered from her serious illness and is ready to get back to school." Silas said with some exaggeration.
Alice smiled and started to fiddle with the radio.
Silas turned out on the country road and sped up. They were a little late.
After a few minutes of driving they arrived in front of Kate's house, she was already waiting when they arrived.
Kate hurried over and sat down in the backseat.
"You two are late." She said as she put on her seat belt.
Silas pulled out and hummed.
"Everything this morning took a little longer than usual."
Alice turned her head slightly and said.
"Hello, Kate… are you feeling better now?" Kate smiled slightly.
"Yeah, but that fever was really something, I don't think I've been that sick… ever."
Alice nodded.
"Being sick is annoying…"
Silas glanced over only to see Alice winking at him.
What a sly dog.
A few minutes of pleasant conversation later, they arrived at the school.
Silas rolled in and immediately started to look for a parking spot.
To be honest, he's very satisfied that the parking is free. I guess that's a small town for you.
It didn't take long before he found an empty spot and reversed in. He had to show off a little.
