Draziel's POV
"Tell me how she is doing. Did you get her to eat?"
"Fine, she's doing just fine. I got her to eat. I must say she has quite the appetite."
"Really?" My pulse quickened.
"Yes. She ate more than half of the turkey. None of the girls we brought ate that much. You were right, my lord—she was starved." Of course she was. She'd been too suicidal to eat. Too determined to die.
The thought made something in my chest constrict.
"So was she less... feisty? I heard she cursed out a local merchant."
"Yes, she isn't happy being here. Unlike the other girls, she has quite a view about us. I must say, I feel she wasn't brought here out of cruelty. She acts like she had a good life before she was brought here."
I would attest to that. It was obvious—she was regal. I just didn't know any king alive who had the same features as her. Her features were different from the other girls brought here. She was taller.
Stronger.
