The Lost Vampire System Chapter 61 - Third Trade
The group talked some, but there were no talks about the measures taken to protect their identities on the expedition since only Madison, Jareth, and Arden knew about that currently. Damion hadn't been informed yet, so Damion just talked about what to look out for, with Arden jumping in here and there, making Damion's hands clench.
After about an hour, Amara came to check on all of them again before saying that they were good to go. The time was 2:37 p.m. It had been 37 minutes since class had ended. The group was heading back to their dorm building, with Damion and Madison by his side. At this point, Arden, Jareth, and Madison forgot about the plan to sneak away and come up with countermeasures just in case something went wrong.
I think I am forgetting something, Jareth thought. Nah, I just need to make sure that I have everything. The group united with the group that went to the general evolved, so now there were 12 members in their group, including Arden. Jareth introduced Arden to the group, and the boys looked at her with a daze before they composed themselves. After that was over, Arden decided to show the group the 20th floor, which was the training room. The group smushed into the elevator and went up to the 20th floor. The doors opened, and their jaws dropped except for the usual people like Arden, Damion, and Hannah, as they had been in these rooms before.
It looked like a futuristic training room with training weapons, armor, an obstacle course, and what appeared to be a laser tag-style room, just with weapons instead. The place was slightly packed, but they didn't care at this time.
"Of course, my family had to be broke," the first twin, Hudson, said as he walked out of the elevator first.
"Same, brother," Hunter said as he followed.
Jareth walked out next, and the rest followed like they got snapped from their daze. They looked around the room as people were training with their powers, while some had Becifer weapons that they were using.
"Now," Arden said, getting their attention. "There is a portal in the back that takes you to the first-year group training area, which is on this base somewhere. There is also a portal in that room that takes you into the small mountain next door, where all three years gather to train. We as a group are not ready for even the first-year area."
"Yes, we are," Hannah protested.
"She said group, not individual," Damion said.
Arden continued. "This expedition is a group effort, and teamwork is important. My team are all ego and strong VIPs, so I don't have to worry about them. Training in NYXIS is fine, but if you want to improve your body, you must train in the real world. Now we should just train here."
The group split into mini groups to train. Damion pulled Mia, Henry, and Keira aside as he had technically become their teacher. Madison, Arden, and Jareth became a group.
"Now," Arden said. "Let's see what you two are made of."
Arden opened her hand as parts of her open armor came undone and went to her hand, forming a sword. She swung it at Jareth, and he jumped back, avoiding the swing. He quickly took off his backpack, along with the sticking-out umbrella, and pulled his sword from its sheath. While he was doing that, Arden attacked Madison as she pulled out her two sword sickles, and they both connected with Arden's sword. Madison had a confused expression on her face.
"I'm actually proficient with swords," Arden chuckled as she pulled back, and Jareth hopped in, clashing with Arden.
"Your knowledge with the sword is increasing," the system said.
"It better," the voice of Apollo said, which made Jareth stiffen as he kind of forgot that Apollo was there after being quiet for so long.
Arden swung the sword again, cutting Madison's shoulder as the Cambion failed to block the attack. Arden giggled as she deflected Jareth's attack and kicked him in the gut.
"Minus 1 HP," the system said as Jareth leaned over but recovered.
Arden leapt over, swinging her sword, but Madison jumped up higher than she should have and swung the sword down. Arden rolled to the side, smacking one of Madison's sword sickles away. Jareth came in, and his body turned the sword on its own, reflecting Arden's attack.
"Go in now," Jareth said as he leapt in the air, bringing the sword down.
The two went in at Arden, and she had to turn toward Jareth, blocking his attack, and Madison's attack hit Jareth's sword instead of her body. Jareth started to throw out commands as the two went in. There was a point when Jareth wondered if his sword skill was even working, so he told the system to turn it off, which surprised him by actually turning it off. He regretted it on the spot as his skill with the sword completely vanished, and he was knocked to the ground by Arden.
"Turn it back on and never turn it off again," Jareth muttered.
"Everything fully restored," the system announced.
Jareth got back up and went in again. He gave some commands to Madison since she had two weapons that made Arden fight harder to keep the upper hand by being more skillful. The three of them kept fighting while Jareth tried to memorize Arden's skills and eventually performed one of them on her. Arden was slightly taken aback, but she performed a perfect counter, lightly slicing down Jareth's arm.
"Minus 2 HP," the system said. "HP: 22 of 25."
Jareth stumbled back as there was a cut in his uniform. He looked at the uniform as his fast vampiric healing slowly started to close the long cut. He then looked back at Arden.
"Don't worry," she said as she blocked both swords and punched Madison in the face, but she winced instead of Madison. "Ow, you can request four new pairs of uniforms a month."
Jareth shrugged as he leapt in again, this time more aggressively, as he pushed Arden back. Madison joined in as Arden was slowly stepping back. Jareth swung down his sword with the full power of his vampiric strength. Arden barely blocked the attack, but Jareth just raised his sword again and swung it down, and she barely had enough strength to block it again. Jareth kept repeating this action until his eyes started to glow red and Arden was beginning to slip.
"Ok," Arden worriedly said. "That's enough."
Jareth just ignored her as he swung the sword again, hitting Arden to the ground as her strength to hold up against Jareth's had run out. Jareth raised his sword again, preparing to swing it down, and when he did, Madison had jumped in, blocking the attack.
"Jareth," she whispered. "Your eyes."
Jareth blinked like he had come back to reality as he looked down at the ground. The red in his eyes slowly subsided as he calmed down.
What was that? Jareth thought. I like went out there for a moment. Hey, Apollo, was that you?
"No," Apollo said. "My vision of what you see just went out for a few seconds. Did your vision go out too?"
No, Jareth thought to Apollo. It like sped up for me, and only when Madison mentioned my eyes did the speed return to normal and I regained my control.
"Interesting," Apollo stated. "Probably your battle instincts."
"Hey, Jareth," Madison said. "Are you ok?"
Jareth noticed Madison and nodded his head as he replied, "Yeah, sorry about that. I got carried away in my instincts."
Just when he was going to try to explain himself more, the system notified him.
"Congratulations on pushing through with your vampiric mental power," the system congratulated him. "You have acquired a new trade."
