"Samuel!" I cried out frantically, dashing to his bedside and accidentally knocking over the healers who were watching over him. "Are you alright?"
Samuel's face looked ghastly. Compared to his pale complexion, the splash of red that erupted from his lips looked like a dark and grim contrast.
Every healer in the vicinity looked horrified. Some bustled away to get more medical equipment, while others helped to clean up the blood that Samuel had coughed out.
I heard Magnus chuckle disbelievingly from behind me. "That sort of question really doesn't need asking. By the way, no wonder Alpha Number Four was suspicious of him. You're certainly enthusiastic―"
"If you're not going to shut that mouth, I'll get the healers to sew it shut for you," I retorted sharply without turning back to look at him, my attention wholly focused on Samuel.
His eyes fluttered open slowly, and he seemed to register my presence.
