Rowan and Soren's expressions darkened when they caught sight of Samuel's bloody, unconscious body. Soren knelt down and carefully undid the buttons on his shirt to examine him more closely, and I gagged as I saw a huge knife wound across his belly. Blood continued to gush out of it, and I cursed my eyes for being able to catch every detail of his sliced insides.
"How could this happen?" Soren exclaimed in shock.
"Ask him!" I pointed at Magnus, who was still where I left him. "He was holding the knife!"
As soon as those words left my lips, Magnus hurriedly kicked the knife he had dropped earlier further away. Unfortunately for him, its sharp blade still caught the light, sparkling for a split second before the blood that was on the blade stained the grass below.
"Not me," Magnus said. "Like I said, the knife isn't mine."
