Before I could respond, Lucien let out a cold snort.
"Why can't she laugh at you?" he asked, tilting his head slightly to one side as though he was looking at a royal idiot. "She's my fated mate. She can laugh at whoever she desires, especially if it's at a Luna who can't even defend herself."
Violet's face went blank nearly immediately. Never had she been so humiliated by any of the Alphas before.
"I…" Violet stammered, not knowing what to say. She bit her lip as her eyes flickered back and forth between Lucien and me, before finally settling on Ralph, who was standing a slight distance away.
Almost as though she had just seen her saving grace, Violet's eyes lit up. I could practically see the stars in her eyes as she pointed sharply at Ralph, her glittering eyes swiveling over to stare Lucien dead in the eyes.
